Beer hall style large open, airy, and bright room. Lots of communal tables with an outdoor space and a kids corner inside.
It's hard to rate service without table service, but the beer tenders are knowledgeable and pleasant.
Large tap list including beers available from Rueben's and Stoup on tap.
No food, but byo and/or a food truck.
Glad I stopped by.

Optimism is huge. It's airy and spacious. The long wood tables are attractive. It's not too noisy, even when the evening crowd filled it up. On a Thursday, it was not crowded at 4:30, but filled up rapidly.
There's no food, so bring your own, or patronize the one food truck.
They brew a lot of beers. They seem to be doing both a wide range of Belgians as well as plenty of the standard American styles. There were about 15 different beers on tap. They serve beers in several sizes, from tasters to pints. The service was quite good.
So far, so good. The problem is that the quality of the beers doesn't live up to the rest of the joint. I had 6 beers. None were excellent. One was maybe good to very good. The other five ranged from good to meh.
I'm not sure if that's just what they are aiming for. The joint was jumping, so they obviously are commercially successful. Right now, however, I couldn't recommend them to a serious beer geek. But the place and the beer are both pleasant, if that's what you want.

Some friends and I hit up Optimism over the weekend. What struck me first is how large it is -- it must be 10,000 square feet with tons of seating and all the brewing equipment visible right in the middle of the floor. They don't have a kitchen, but they have space for a food truck out back.
I tried several of their beers and all seemed pretty decent. Nothing blew me away, but then again these were all mostly standard styles, nothing really out of the ordinary. I'd like to go back at a time maybe when they've got some slightly more adventurous stuff going.
