Sample on tap at the source.
Pours a somewhat hazy deep copper color with a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Earthy bready maltiness with a hint of dry chocolate powder with some earthy spicy hops to counter.

Fortunately spotted the brewery while making a quick stop through town and taking a photo behind some buildings across the street from the brewery. Ended up picking up a bottle from the local IGA on the way out to try later in the evening.

A: Rusty red almost leaning toward a mahogany. Head is a sandy off-white, somewhat delayed, and forms a fizzy topping. Retention is pretty decent, and creates a touch of lacing.

S + T: Toasty malts, a hint of spiciness, and a caramel sweetness on the palate that is a little more present in the flavour than it is on the nose.

M + O: Medium bodied with a somewhat effervescent carbonation--though it can feel a little sharp while swirling in the mouth. Overall, this is a decent red--it does have the novelty of being America's easternmost brewery!

Very tasty with an ABV that allows for a few more. This is their most popular beer for good reason.
Robust flavor with hints of toffee caramel and rye. Light to medium body.

The appearance was a rugged dark amber close to brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated immediately. Sly lacing. The aroma had some nutty malts, caramel and toffee and then tones of spicy rye. The flavor copied the aroma, pretty much spot on. Rye seems to blend well with the malts leading into a combined spicy to sweet aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. Malts fine tune the spices nicely to keep a well versed tight feel on my tongue. Overall, amber ale with rye in it? Yes, sure is and one worthy of having again.
