Oh, what Dusty once was. He was vibrant! He was juicy! He was rough around the edges, with a little bite, and yet still balanced and approachable. Everybody loved him, and even more do today. Sure, he still looks the same - but his old friends know that he's changed. He's bigger now, a little less interesting - dull and dumbed down. He says money and opportunity haven't changed him....Ok. But to those who remember what once was, this Lust's for you. Chinook, Galaxy, Amarillo and Citra. 7.6% ABV, 60 IBUS, and brewed in Seattle by an adamantly small, forever independent brewery that former Elysian employees work at.

Pours a hazy pale orange. Nice two fingers of pillowy soft foam. It's a beautiful head that leaves lovely lacing as it slowly recedes.
Nose is a creamy citrus melange, some dry spice. Nice classic profile. I get definite amarillo and chinook.
The flavour has much the same profile, but more rich, more textured, more lush. There's a bit of nectar, a lot of citrus, some spice, maybe a touch of pulpy overripe fruit, but not much... bottom line is it's real good. Honestly it kind of strikes me as the profile of a classic APA but amped up to IPA bordering on imperial range. It's been a while since I had Space Dust, but I like this a lot better than I remember liking Space Dust, though I definitely see the lineage.
Finish lingers with bitter spicy amarillo and chinook profiles. I've been kind of off of IPAs recently, but this pushes me back into the IPA mode pretty solidly.

Golden color with super smooth finish. A great IPA that is a very easy finish. Very smooth with light notes of citrus.

On-tap at the source itself, the name Cosmic Lust reminded me of a knock-off of Space Dust. Lo and behold, several Cloudburst employees used to work at Elysian, the maker of Space Dust. So, will the real space-themed beer please stand up?
Washed out orange colored with a little haze, a modest head and retention stays around the glass. It smells juicy, just like a Space Dust. I smell cantaloupe, juicy passionfruit, orange, and dry spiciness. It tastes a lot like a fruit juice in a glass. Forget Juice It Up!, have a Cosmic Lust instead! It's filled with tropical fruits. Pineapple, orange, passionfruit, cantaloupe, and a little bitterness at the end to taste. It's medium bodied and easy in the mouth, and at the end of the glass, I would call this a Space Dust that has been sanded down. In other words, an outstanding IPA!
