Crowler from 5/30 into a New Belgium tulip.
Body the colour and opacity of applesauce. Massive sticky/silky white head sits on top, still at a solid finger even after dissipating by about the same amount. Van Gogh would be proud of the depth of the impasto-esque lacing.
Nose is a bright bouquet of mushy tropical fruits. Mildly boozy papaya and almost like overripe banana puree.
Flavour has that same smoothie impression of bruised bananas with mango and papaya and an almost creamy sweetness amongst it all, like a creme pie. Nice bitter upturn towards the end saves this from being too one dimensional and lingers long after the sweetness fades leaving an oily lime like bite. This builds the further into the crowler I get.
Smoothe enough with a healthy dose of carbonation that doesn't overwhelm. I'm admittedly not really on board with the recent trends in IPAs, but I can dig this well enough. I think this will be right up some folks' alley. Thanks Jeff for sharing the love.
