i am surprised to learn now that this is as strong as it is, it drinks super easy, not that its light in any way, it just has no trace of its strength apparent at all. shiny deep brown beer, not overly viscous, and quite active with the carbonation and attending head. smells sweet and rich, with the coffee far less bitter and acidic than i am used to in the style, and the roast on the grain (and maybe the coffee too) not as dark. i get more of a brown malt base, chocolate and sweet caramel, less bitter roast and char. the coffee is smooth too, mellow, earthy, and carefully dosed. seems like finished coffee blended into finished beer, but i am not for sure on the process here. the flavor is wonderful, chocolate and coffee meet right in the middle, the body is comforting and substantial, and the finish is long and mellow, soothing almost, warming, excellent in chilly fall in dark winter. i thought all of the beer here was awesome, this was one of the best, behind only the working gals chardonnay barrel aged cream ale, which frankly was just unreal. perfect morning beer right here, be careful with the sneaky strength!
