Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a golden amber color with a one finger head of thick pure white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is super strong of a nice orange and tangerine citrus smell mixed with some aromas of bread and caramel. Along with these sweeter and more malty smells comes some grapefruit and herbal hop, giving a very nice aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a bread and cracker flavor that has a good showing of sweet orange citrus and grapefruit hop mixed within. There is a little bit of caramel upfront, which seems to fade as the taste proceeds forward. All the while more hop for a grapefruit nature comes to the tongue and is joined by some light herbal and floral hop tastes to leave a nice smooth citrusy hopped and sweetened taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the mix of nice citrus sweet, hop, and medium breadiness the middle ground body and carbonation are great and make this an easy drinker.
Overall – This was a very flavorful and delicious brew overall. I have had some of Beehive Basin’s other stuff in the past, but nothing compares to this with respect to balance, flavor, and quality. This is a top notch pale ale. Well done!!!
