Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep brick red color with a small white head of fizzy foam. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is of a lightly toasted malt that has a decently strong showing of caramel and toffee. Along with these smells is a touch of pine and herbal hop.
Taste – The taste pretty much follows the nose spot on. It begins with a toasted malt flavor that has a rather strong presence of caramel and molasses. These flavors create a base taste profile for the brew. As the taste moves forward the base flavors are joined by a tiny bit of pine and herb as well as a touch of dark fruit, leaving one with a rather sweet and malty flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew was thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that was rather average to slightly lower. For the big malty flavors of the brew the feel was nice and made for a robust drinker overall.
Overall – An OK red, but for the most part pretty standard.
