Palate Contaminants: salty cheese
Take the usual Orange Julius color and make it a bit darker. (And it's opaque, of course.) The head is the most off-white I've seen from this style. Some lacing.
Slight sweetness on the nose. Honeydew melon and light, low-acidity citrus. Light lemongrass. Mild lactose.
The intial taste is notably bitter, especially compared to what one usually gets with a N.E. IPA. However, it's not overpowering. In fact nothing really dominates for me, but there are some moderate flavors that blend together well, including the bitterness. The sweetness seems to be connected to honey, and there's a good deal of moss and white wood (although not as sharp as they can be). Also some herbs, maybe oregano.
The carbonation is a bit prickly, and the weight is right down-the-middle for the style. Unfortunately, the bitterness is the main aftertaste, although again, it's at a moderate level.
