13 buck for a four pack of tall boys, but Key usually does good work.
Pours a thick yellow, hazy with hop oil and topped by a fluffy white head.
Smells smooth and juicy: hops dominate, with loads of mango and grapefruit. Some yeast nodes for balance.
Tastes quite nice. Very smooth. Sweet and fruity up front, with nodes of OJ, grapefruit, and guava. Gets a bit bitter near the middle and ends with some pleasant grassiness and more fruit on the finish. A very flavorful beer with absolutely no off nodes.
This is easily one of the beer NEIPA's I've had that wasn't actually made in New England.

It pours darker than the standard New England-style IPA - it's light copper instead of golden. However, it's every bit as turbid & hazy as the best-looking examples. The head is a finger high and white in shade. There isn't much lacing left on the glass, and retention is fairly low.
The aroma seems to have many nuances to the hop profile, as notes of pine, grass, and vegetation show up next to the melon, mango, orange, and grapefruit. A little bit of caramel malt appears, as well. While the hop assault starts off intensely, it seems to waver after "opening up" some. Still, so much of this smacks of what a NE IPA should smack of.
Starting off with notes of mandarin orange, grapefruit, spruce, and grass, the flavor profile becomes somewhat malty near the middle. Caramel, toffee, and cookie are the predominant malt notes. It finishes with touches of grapefruit rind, lemon zest, and even better, minimal bitterness. What minute bitterness there is stems from fruity notes rather than piny ones. The hop/malt profile doesn't quite nail the NE IPA paragon (the former doesn't provide the "juice bomb" quality, while the latter offers too much caramel), but it offers a restrained complexity that more than a few "juice bombs" lack.
The texture is classic NE IPA. Zesty carbonation causes this to fill the mouth with soft, creamy goodness. The bubbles start off a bit too strongly at first, but they subside nicely and allow the pillowy feel to shine. It's very full-bodied and substantial for 7%, too.
While it's not ultra-juicy, it's a decently nuanced IPA with a great mouthfeel. Though it's a tad pricey (what NE IPA worth its weight in palladium isn't?), I'd gladly drink and even buy this again. Good to see more Maryland breweries coming out with impressive IPAs like this.
