On tap at Fagar’s Island in Ocean City, Md. Served in a tall Pilsner glass.
Stylish dark brown color with a 1f cocoa tan head. Lots of heavy lacing.
There’s some coffee aroma to start, surprisingly. The cocoa and rye followed.
Hearty roasted rye with chocolate and decaf coffee.
Goes down easy, smooth side of medium bodied. Chocolatey.
It worked well as an after dinner sipper even at its light side abv.

6pk of 12oz cans (Couldn't locate a date) obtained fm the Mount Vernon Market here in Baltimore: Other than the new name & accompanying graphics (VERY nice btw) how is this different fm their previous Rye Porter?

Very dark brown with a little bit of red highlights around the edges, thin off-white head without much staying power and only spotty lace
Chocolate, weak coffee, earthy
Earthy, bready, sweet chocolate
Medium, low carbonation
Decent enough

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, little else. Taste is roasted malts, smokey, light rye is present in the background. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, I would liked to have seen a higher rye presence.

A: Poured from the can into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. . . . Body is dark, dark brown - bordering on black but not quite there. . . . Thin wisp of greyish head.
S: Roasted barley, peat and ash. Hint of molasses and chocolate.
T: Tastes like a hybrid Brown Ale & Porter, with sweet flavors up front (molasses, chocolate malt and brown bread) followed by Porter characteristics: hint of smoke, lingering charcoal - and then that spicy rye bite, which provides balance on the finish.
M: Light-to-medium in heft, good active carbonation.
O: Very good. A refreshing, light porter with a kick at the finish.
