Poured from 330mL can into a tumbler. Canned 8/29/23.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a relatively light haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam.

Smell: on the sweet side with hops that are a bit lemony, a bit piney, and a bit grape fruity. They market this as a West Coast IPA, and this aroma definitely fills that bill.

Taste: a bit bitter and rind-ey on top of the somewhat sweet malt. Not bad, but kinda rough around the edges.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: it’s a decent WCIPA but wouldn’t be my go-to.

definitely among the most modern tasting of the ipa types we had in spain, especially for one that still has some bitterness, they call this west coast, and it might be not quite bitter enough for that, still mostly dry hopped, maybe not malty enough either, not a ton of structure to this although there is some balance in the flavor, and also still a little hazy, but it bridges the gap well, has a big northwest hop profile with grapefruit zest leading the way in the nose and more of an orange and pineapple thing in the flavor, sturdy bitterness to it the entire way too, not just at the end. nice. yellowish with a light orange tint in the low light of their tap room in barcelona, holds an inch of white head well, and smells pretty fresh to me. there is an intensity to the hops to my senses which i like, boldly dosed for sure, maybe a touch green as it warms, but not way overdone or anything. the thing that throws me a little with this is the yeast, its almost english to me, which heavies the beer up a little, and it seems sort of stressed too, not quite astringent but not as clean as it should be in the style, not exactly a technical flaw either, but i dont love the fermentation profile here, it kind of needs to be more out of the way. the hops hit green, simcoe and ctz popping, bitter pine and white grapefruit, green tea, and some light fruity soapiness. lighter body from the pale malt, good carbonation, some linger on the tongue. definitely contemporary, robustly hopped, and could definitely have come from an american brewer in the northwest, but also not quite masterfully executed overall, much as i enjoy it and appreciate the effort. crazy to see how influential american craft has been over here...
