unique wit here, done with new zealand hops, really funky can art too, these look awesome. straw colored, maybe a little denser and richer looking than a lot of these, but fizzy white headed and not way different, still light and lively. the beer sort of comes in two waves, the first pretty familiar, white wheat malt, belgian yeast esters more spicy than fruity, and the toasted coriander character which is pretty bold in here, some obvious citrus to this as well as white pepper, earthy dry grain, and maybe a little lemongrass. the second wave is the hops, modern and southern hemisphere for sure, green melon, kiwi fruit, and white grape and peach, herbal too, very fresh, and way more than is common in the style, but it works to accentuate a juicy element to the orange peel in here and to extend the flavor, even though this stays on the dry side, it also adds a cool freshness i dont often think of in a wit type, and adds just a little finishing bitterness it seems. i love the hop choice and the dose, and i think the slightly more sturdy wheat base suits it well, this beer can handle this much character, not all of them could. very flavorful beer, its not overly refined to me, but i dont mind it being a little raw either in this instance, good carbonation and a ton of yeast character through the whole drink. neat recipe, sexy packaging, fun one to share with my wife at the brewery, rad spot!
