33 cl can, poured into a snifter, in Toulouse, France. Can says”features chocolate, caramel and biscuits”.
Medium heft brown foam atop black brew. Decent start.
Aroma of milk chocolate, prune juice, coconut (?).
Taste starts chocolate and dark malt, then rings a coconut Mounds bar bell, kinda like Funky Buddha’s ‘Last Snow’, in that there’s an artificially syrupy thing going on. That’s crazy becuz the ingredients listed in the can don’t list coconut, nor artificial flavors. Perfumey and smooth finish, lingering sticky sweetness, alcohol bite. It’s a little astringent.
Mouthfeel is full and thick thanks to oating, there’s light carbonation.
Overall, I’ve got pretty good taste buds. Getting coconut flavored syrup out of a Stout touting chocolate and caramel befuddles me. I dunno., the beer is OK, so it seems, but.,.

My second beer review overlooking the Tagus River, this one of a 12 oz. can (& collab with Finback). The beer scene in Portugal has blossomed in the years since my last visit!

The pour is black on black (not blue on black) The nose is not prominent, faint malt.

Muted Sophisticated doesn’t hold back in the mouth though. Strong, echoing malts bring sweetness, body, roast & depth. Mid-palate brings fleeting saline, caramel, white Oreos, while the malts reassert themselves on the finish. Not a sipper. A gulper.

Really nice stout. Love to see what a barrel or three would do to kick this up a notch or three.
