Colour dark brown, chestnut, ruby under the light. Medium-high, moderately persistent foam, brown in colour. Fine bubbles coat the glass nicely, clearly drawing frothy circles.
Malty aroma, obviously roasted malts, slightly ashy. With the passage of time, dark, fried fruits appear. The aroma is pleasant, inviting to taste.
Taste is gently dry with a bitterness of an ashy, roasted character.
Medium saturation, works perfectly. Body medium. Texture "round", smooth. Aftertaste medium long, dry, roasted, ashy.

Poured from 440mL can into a tumbler. Canned 9/14/23 and purchased at the brewery. I'm not sure what a "Mexican-style dark lager is", but I'm going to find out!
Appearance: rich brown hue with just a dash of haze and a finger of tan foam atop. Way darker than, say, a Vienna lager; it's pretty.
Smell: malt is quite toasty and a bit nutty; there's a little bit of biscuity character in there as well. I don't feel like I smell the rice directly, but perhaps it's adding to the hint of graininess here.
Taste: toasty, nutty, and biscuity, quite like the aroma. I fancy I can taste the rice in the flavor a little bit; overall, it's interesting. I'll admit the biscuity quality is not my favorite, but it's still an interesting dark lager.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: although I think this is a beer crafted with care, the biscuity element does not strongly appeal to me. So, it's decent, but not especially to my taste.
