Treecreeper is a unique entry to the Small Bird Series in that it features a single hop varietal, yet a complex grain profile. Brewed with Valley Danko rye, white wheat, C-15, and Munich Malt, a nuanced malt backbone sets the stage for Citra to shine. Pouring a hazy, golden yellow, Treecreeper's aroma pops as soon as the can is cracked. Bright, tropical layers of papaya, mango popsicle, and pineapple work in tandem with more citrus-forward notes of orange peel and grapefruit juice. Medium-bodied and easy-drinking, Treecreeper finishes dry with just a touch of refreshing bitterness.

On tap at the Greenway Garden for $9 (16oz pour) on a lovely late September afternoon. Looks and smells like their top notch APAs. This is all Citra so of course it’s delicious. Well balanced with plenty of fruit but a nice hint of rye. Tasty.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little nice lacing.

S: Bright mix of citrus, tropical and stone fruit a touch grassy, floral hints, crackery biscuity malt, and a little light caramel sweetness.

T: Opens with zesty citrus, tangerine, lemon lime, and a hint of grapefruit, followed by ripe tropical and stone fruit, mango, apricot, peach, passion fruit, light pineapple, and a hint of guava, a bit grassy, soft floral notes, crackery biscuity malt, and a touch of light caramel sweetness.

M: On the lighter side of medium body, moderately lively carbonation.

O: Flavors start to pop as it warms. Tasty crushable hazy Citra pale ale, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't leave me wanting a bit more and thinking about how good a bigger version of this could be.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium in Canton for about seventeen dollars. My fifty fifth brew from these guys. Canned on date of 8/12/23. Solid LAB, a bit overpriced.

32oz growler from 2/12/16 from Canton. $8. Cloudy yellow with small white head and strong lacing. Smells of mango and orange juice with an herbal tea finish. Flavor is very similar, with a medium-light body and healthy smooth carbonation. The hoppage comes across as super-fresh and clear in flavor. High drinkability due to the lingering pithy dryness, hindered only a little by the fact that it is so flavorful that it might get tiring after more than a couple pints.

This would be a regular if not for the $4/pint cost at home. Hopefully as they scale up production they can bring things down to under $3/pint for a 5% pale ale.
