Cutting Tiles is an exploratory series of Double IPA's featuring a range of aromatic single hop varietals brewed with raw wildflower honey. This new version is dosed with 100% Citra in all kettle, whirlpool and two massive dry hop additions. The local wildflower honey keeps the body light and drinkable but provides a earthy backbone. Floral and zesty up front backed up with a nuanced citrus character on the nose that continues straight through in the flavor profile. Pillowy soft mouthfeel, with a restrained bitterness on the finish. New variants to follow!

MALT: Pilsner, White Wheat, Flaked Wheat, Dextrine, C-15

HOPS: Citra

Poured from 16oz can into my BeerAdvocate teku. Canned 10/23/25.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a thick, murky haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop.

Smell: quite sweet with notes of honey and a light, springtime grassiness that I really like. There's perhaps a hint of a light fruitiness, but it's just an accent. I still really like it, but it's not at all what I was expecting from Citra.

Taste: malt is even sweeter than the aroma, but for a honey-spiked imperial, that's no surprise. Grassy, maybe some passionfruit, even kind of a muted jackfruit quality here too. Again, it's rather good, but not what I was expecting.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a lovely, smooth creaminess.

Overall: a really solid hazy DIPA. This can is two months old, so maybe that explains the delta between my score here and the average. Still a very tasty beer!

Out of sight. Fantastic citrus aroma with an even better, practically perfect taste. Mango, peach, honey and other citrus flavors on top of the delicious citra hops all finished with a crisp, strong bite that's not too bitter. Fruity, a tiny bit fluffy and well carbonated. Honey keeps the flavor stuck to your lips. Excellent overall, but not a regular purchase for modest budgets.

16 0z. can dated 6/13/24

Tan gold pond murk with one finger fine white head. Spotty curtain lacing and partial surface cap. No floaties or sediment.

Intoxicating Citra grapefruit and melon aromas.

Orange, grapefruit, light floral flavors.

Smooth but with assertive hop aftertaste. Good carbonation. This is what you can do with honey in a DIPA.

On fire like fire. Speak to me. Speak to me like I am the first one that had a voice. I’m in this moment. A “moment.” Dream of tomorrow while living today. Is it all about today?

A big thanks to @CarolinaCardinals for this bad boy! [A long-awaited] first experience with Trillium
16oz can poured into a Bissell Brothers pint

P opaque orange with a hearty 2f white head; nice color
N bold aroma of sharp citra hops and floral notes; zesty and inviting
T a combo of semi-sweet oranges, apricot, light lactose, and green hop notes, all carried by hearty crackery malt and made smooth by wildflower honey; the 8.5% abv is undetectable
Mf full-bodied w/ soft-med to med carb
O an excellent dipa- grateful for the opportunity to have tried it!

11/9/23 On tap at The House of Brews.

Aromas of apricot, honey and lily. Very floral and sweet smelling.

The taste follows. It's sweet, smooth in the mouth, nice little treat you want to drink slowly and enjoy.

Picked up a 16oz single from the Appalachian Vintner 10-19-23 for $8.49. Canned 9-25-23; consumed 11-4-23. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured a hazy golden orange with an okay white head.

Nose is very nice, nothing but full on fresh citrus and tropical fruit.

Taste is a light but substantial pale malt base that displays the citra hops expertly. Getting full on juicy fruit mango, orange, and passion fruit that is nicely balanced by ample hopping to cut away the sweetness; 6/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is wonderfully light and very refreshing. Hard to believe this is a 8.5% abv beer.

Overall another wonderful IPA from Trillium. They are expensive but it is nice to have a special treat on occasion!
