The newest edition of Free Rise, one of our signature farmhouse ales, highlights locally sourced Danko Rye from Valley Malt and Galaxy in the dry hop. A fruity hop profile is balanced with subtle, nutty malt character and a delicate black pepper spice. Light in body, with a clean, bone-dry finish, Galaxy Dry Hopped Free Rise is a welcomed addition to our family of farmhouse ales.

MALT: Pilsner, Danko Rye, Flaked Wheat, Dextrose

Huge, half-glass head. It's slow to settle and leaves many random small bubbles. The liquid is cloudy and very pale. The haze brings a strong degree of white to the otherwise straw color.

Hop centric aroma. It's mostly flowery but there's a touch of black pepper bite. The farm house yeast smells are present but in the background.

The high carbonation is the first notable characteristic. The body is neutral. The malt is pale and brief. The Saison flavors show up next with a yeast bite and a bittering hop that finishes the flavor profile. The aftertaste is relatively soft but it lasts a long time.

16oz can, Trillium snifter. Cloudy yellow body, looks a lot like their IPAs, to be honest. Two finger white head, good retention, bit of lacing. Smell is nice yeasty esters, fairly fruity with a touch of funky wet leather. Mild crisp resin, not particularly Galaxy distinct as I feel the yeast contributes more- as it should. Nice Brett on the nose. Flavour follows, light lemon, a bit of grapefruit and spicy tropical fruit, tempered by a fair bit of leathery bite, light crackery grains, fairly mineral-forward bite. Medium lighter bodied, good carbonation, moderately bitter hop resin on the finish.

a: golden grainy amber color with a nice 3 finger frothy marshmellowy rocky white head. pretty clear with a little chill haze. a touch of darker orange towards the center of the glass

s: earthy grass and grains upfront. barnyardy funk, green apple skin, ripe pears, wheat, and lemongrass behind that. peppery spicy yeast. nice sweet bready malt backbone to the aroma as well. a touch of lemon zest in here as well that adds a bit of effervescence. finish is funky, musty, and a little more of that green apple skin

t: sweet grains, lemongrass, and a big punch of that green apple on the front of the tongue. sweet, ripe pears behind that with a big bready malt backbone. a touch of herbal bitterness on the back of the tongue. there is a touch of funk on the front and side of the tongue after the bitterness. the funk is much more mild in the taste than the aroma. the finish is sweet apple and grains with peppery & Belgian yeast spice

m: medium mouthfeel, with strong carbonation. not as high as carbonation as some other Saisons, but it's not terrible

o: i enjoy this more than the Nelson Dry Hopped version (though I am a bigger fan of Nelson in general). in this, the hop is more of a note, rather than the main player. i prefer my Saisons more funky and spicy. this has a pretty nice balance, and the flavor transitions and harmonizations are well done in here

Dated 5/21/19 on the bottom of the can, 6 weeks since brewing.

Pours a hazy dirty straw with two fingers of rocky white head. Nose of toasted rye bread, walnuts, overripe banana, black pepper and spring flowers; nothing too impactful. Taste follows the noise but round out the flavor profile by bringing in some passionfruit, citrus rind, lemon peel and some earthiness. Mouthfeel leaves a bit to be desired for a 7.3% brew being on the lighter side of medium. However, what it lacks in body it brings back with just how refreshing it is! Super thirst quenching. Light on the bittering, smooth carbonation and not too heavy handed with the sweetness, this is perfect for a hot summer day. I'll be picking up some more of this soon!

Lost some of my pour due to a baggage mishap, but there was enough for a small glass, and the remainder is still quite solid. The color is a hazy orange, with a short white head, minimal small bubble lacing. The nose is citrus and Saison funk. The flavor is more bright fruity hop, with bread crust malts and a mild spiced finish. Tasty and solid.

A slight haze within this golden coloration. Clumpy and fluffy white foam is very well supported by vibrant carbonation and active yeast. Big lace!

The Belgian-ish yeast esters are very potent with herbal and spicy banana type aroma's. The Galaxy hop shoots out sweet, red fruits, citrus, green grass and some flowery additions to the nose.

Galaxy Free Ride has a very light and clean mouthfeel, jazzy and dry! Makes you almost want to work in the fields, mid -summer!!

The spicy and sour-fruity effects of this medium to full flavoured yeast strain is pretty impressive for an American Brewer. Green grassy tones and mild current of sweet fruits from the Galaxy hops seem to mingle together perfectly. The dry earthiness and nutty, perhaps even...woody flavors from the malt and Rye has some excellent grainy and herbal tones. The local Rye and malts coming out of the Pioneer Valley and Western Mass is just awesome to see; delivering high quality malt ingredients to brewers on a local level.

The pilsner/wheat and Rye malt triad is an excellent choice for NEIPA's and Farmhouse style ale's. These three malt inclusions for this brew is executed to perfection from what I can tell. Very tasty malt side, as the Galaxy hop adds sweet fruits and the yeast a rather excellent sour and herbal color. All of these aspects work perfectly as a team.

Trillium is not currently available in NH, but I don't mind a nice drive to Western Mass to get my fix.

Melon, earthy grass, pine and grapefruit. Little bit of Belgian yeast ester, banana, clove malt flavors. This beer is a riddle. Is it good? Sure. Very hard to describe the flavors. Earthy and dank yet it has Saison flavors.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color with a frothy head; some patchy lacing

Smell: Bready and grassy, with a strong cereal grain aspect; hints of apricot, peach, banana, clove, and pith

Taste: Bread and grass forward with apricot and peach underneath; cereal and clove tones add complexity, through the middle, with banana and vanilla making an appearance, after the swallow; the pith and grassy tones linger into the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Been a while since I have had a Saison which truly excited me but this one brings me back to one of my favorite styles, when properly executed

On draft at Trillium Canton.

Pours Hazy gold, not fully opaque. Frothy white foam.

Nose has those familiar hints of clove and pepper.. hints of yeast and lemon.

More citrus presence to balance more intensified pepper and some white wine qualities. Grapefruity finish.

Light, dry, crisp mouthfeel.

The beer pours a very nice white and fluffy head that dissipates at a moderate pace. The beer itself is a pretty good looking clear pale straw yellow.

The smell is very good. It has a very nice and strong, rustic rye and peppercorn smell with a moderate lemon note. There is also a sweet yeast note accompanying the notes and helps dominate the hop smell.

The taste is good with the same notes at the same intensity butt with a lighter lemon hop note and a new, dry grapefruit citrus note.

The feel is good. It has a light body and strong and crispy carbonation. There is definitely a dry finish to this one.

Overall, a good saison and one of the more rustic ones that I've had. It isn't super hoppy but I found it worth my while.
