Our Fated Farmer Series is a landmark step toward realizing our foundational vision for Trillium: Build a place that intuitively celebrates the intersection of New England farming, agriculture, brewing and an integrated community experience. The grist of each of the dynamic Fated Farmer wild ales is set on the structure of Valley Malt and is barrel fermented in 500L puncheons with our Native New England Wild Culture and aged for 5-7 months, before refermenting on freshly harvested fruit.
Fresh nectarines sourced from Lookout Farm in nearby Natick, Massachusetts lend this rendition of Fated Farmer a refreshing, lightly handed stone fruit profile. A bright nose of citrus peel, dried apricot, stone fruit is followed by a delicate, balanced palate that dives in and out with light notes of nectarine flesh, candied orange, pink grapefruit and an intriguing funk. A low to moderate clean lactic acidity, some light tannic structure coupled with a lively carbonation provides a zippy finish.
MALT: Valley Pilsner, Valley Wheat
HOPS: Aged Hops

Ordered at Canton thinking it was on tap without realizing it came in a bottle. Very tart with a ton of stone fruit flavor. A proper wild ale with plenty of funk that even my dad liked, which is rare for sours.

Pours a clear golden color with visible carbonation. A thin wisp of a head quickly dissipates, nevertheless, leaves lacing.
As expected, the nose opens with notes of nectarine. This is accompanied by aromas of sourdough bread, grass, lemon and lime. Funky, rustic and oaky with aromas of white grape and fresh cut flowers.
The taste is very sour with complex notes of nectarine, white grape, green apple, lemon and lime. Notes of sourdough and wheat bread form the malt base. Rustic and funky notes of oak, wood, peppery and floral spices and white wine vinegar.
Medium bodied with a stinging and acidic mouthfeel. The finish is nothing short of bone dry. The carbonation is moderate.
Wonderful sour on par with the other Fated Farmer series. I would have again.

It’s been ages since I’ve had a lambic/wild ale, and breaking the spell with this tart and fruity nectarine couldn’t be a better way. This was paired with a plate of jerk chicken, summer salad, and rice and beans. The aroma was subdued and the color sparkling good. Nice head and a crisp, sharp taste to shower the palate. The nectarine emerges towards the end but hangs on during subsequent sips. Check the weather and if it’s anywhere in the 90s, this is what I’ll reach for. Thanks to my neighbor and his beer network.

Not living in Boston (yet), I have wanted to try beers from Trillium's Fated Farmer series for several months, but the stars never aligned for them to be available when I was in town. I was finally able to try the Nectarine installment today and was not disappointed: it smells and tastes like a less fuzzy peach wild ale, with a bit more sweetness and less sourness than your average sour, and its soft prickle makes this a rather excellent beer. It has all the complexity that I'd expect from Trillium with a delicacy to die for. Somewhat bummed that I was only able to bring two Fated Farmer bottles back with me to California, but I guess I have to save something for next time.

im not sure i even really knew these guys made wild beers! how awesome that they do, but also, of course they do, in this day and age, you dont stay at the top of the heap if you dont, at least it doesnt seem like it. this is the first of this series i have had, and it is in every way incredible, one of the best beers i have had from these guys, critical as i have sometimes been, and while its more sour than i want to drink very much of, its exceptional beer, of the highest quality, and a wonderful homage to a real, natural, ripe and perfect summer nectarine. light and pale in color, not even real hazy, heady from the tap with a lasting inch of white bubbles, and a fancy look, light as can be though in shade, not even really orange at all, almost watery looking, sparkling for sure. aroma and flavor of fresh juicy nectarine and a little bit of funky white wine or something, natural again, only lightly wooded and tannic, but sharp with the bacterial element here, clean as it is, its intense. insanely bright minerality here too, like salts and metals and even ionic stuff that i cant quite explain because its new to me here, but its amazing, and its as much feel as it is flavor, along with the effervescence this leaps out of the glass with. i wish i wasnt quite so sour, but its epic on the nectarine and wild front, and i love it, want more in the series, and cannot possibly recommend this one highly enough. among the best trillium beers i have ever had!
