Our series of New England saisons continues with Orange Muscat Lineage Rye, a wild ale featuring Valley Danko rye. This Polish rye grain provides a soft earth and spice malt backbone to compliment the complex characteristics derived from aging in oak barrels with our native New England mixed culture and well aged hops. The Orange Muscat version of Lineage Rye has a light straw hue and engaging floral and vinous aromatics on the nose with a hint of kiwi and mild Brett-derived farmhouse funk. The palate develops the nose further, emerging with orange zest, young white wine and a suggestion of honeysuckle nectar. Mature, soft oak melds with a faint rye spice on the finish with a refreshing light acidity and a zippy, tight carbonation.

Copenhagen 5/10 2022. 35,5 cl bottle from Mikkeller web-shop. Drawing of a big barrel on the off-white label.
Pours unclear golden yellow with a small bubbly white head. Disappears almost immediately. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a sweet fruity odor soon overpowered by a tart sour vinous scent. Peach and tangerine. Gooseberries, citrus and green apples. Light touch vinegar.
Strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively and fizzy texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong tart sourness. Aftertaste sour. A bit watery. Lingers for a bit. Finish is dry.
Amazing, sharp smell but falters a bit in flavor.

A 330ml bottle, bottled on 17th May 2018. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden orange colour with a two finger white head that dissipated quickly, while leaving only sparse lacing.
Aroma: Vinous, oak, grape skin, citrus zesty, funk.
Taste: Sour, tart, vinous, orange, orange zest, white wine grape, oak, spicy, light funk.
Mouthfeel: Rich, medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Aroma and flavours were not bad, but the richness of the vinous and orange was a bit overwhelming for my palate, and just not so easy to drink.

Pours a pale orange with fine, light head,
Smell is tart and oaky with notes of orange peel, lemon, apricot and some funk.
Taste is tart and vinous. Lots of citrus and citrus peel wih a bit of bitterness. Notes of apricot, funk, hay and crackers. Boozy in a warming way, but well hidden in the taste.
Mouthfeel is dry and vinous, quite chewy, well carbonated.
Overall, a very good sour that you really can't tell is as strong as it is.

Quite an exceptional funky saison. It big and you get a hint of the ABV but I was thinking in the 7-8% range and then read it’s 10.3% and was shocked it was that high. But it’s really drinkable and highly recommended.

Such a delicious and complex beer. Clear, pale gold beer with a quickly vanishing white head. Smell and taste is similar. There is orange, spicy rye, green apple, oak, some funk and tartness. Nice light body with great carbonation. Really great beer.

Pours a pale yellowish straw in color with a finger of frothy white head. Aroma is lightly acidic with some citrus and Brett. Taste mirrors the aroma and adds some white wine notes. Finishes dry with a medium+ body and moderate+ carbonation. Overall very tasty, wish I had bought a few more bottles.

375ml bottle dated 5/17/18.
Pours sparkling clear straw yellow with a lively head of white. Some retention and minor lacing is a plus. Winey and citrusy in the nose with shades of pineapple, apple, and orange. Zesty and citric. Medium bodied with a crisp, crackling mouthfeel. Bone-dry on the palate with hints of apple, orange, honey, and champagne. Finishes minerally and crisp with a bright citric bite.
Nice beer and probably the best wild I've had from Trillium.
