Our latest Double IPA serves as a tribute to the beloved Boston based busker, Keytar Bear. Known to many Bostonians for his welcoming perma-smile and funky 80’s Prince covers, a Keytar Bear sighting is a surefire way to brighten the day, or at the very least your commute on the T!
Keytar Bear Double IPA is brewed with local wildflower honey and a little lactose, then conditioned on vanilla beans, and presents a milky haze of deep orange straw. Intense aromas of orange oil and pineapple leap out of the glass. Flavors of tangerine, slight marshmallow, a whiff of coconut cream and rich Madagascar vanilla bean lead the palate and meld into a tropical profile that hints at piña colada. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft back end bitterness, Keytar Bear is an instant Boston classic!
ABV: 8.8 %
MALT: Pale Malt, Flaked Barley, Honey Malt
HOPS: Citra, Galaxy

Not for me, like drinking a wilted vanilla ice cream infused with alcohol. Lingering aftertaste was most unpleasant.

It looks alright, but that's where the positives end and this goes off the rails. The vanilla and lactose combine to give this an artificial plasticky character that you just can't get over. This is undrinkable. It can compete with Never & Again for worst hoppy beer that Trillium has ever brewed.
