Pours a cloudy, deep orange gold with an off white 1 finger head.
Aroma has citrus notes mixed with something tropical. Not too distinct. I find so.ething mildly offensive in the smell.
Taste has pineapple notes jump out so mystery solved. There is a bit of earthiness to it too. Finish is clean with a slight seltzer remaining.
Feel is soft with a light bitterness.
This is a great tasting ipa with mostly citrus notes but some tropical creeping in. A great NEIPA offering but not the best from trillium.

The taste reminds me of a west coast dipa with that neipa twist. Solid brew.

The "what if" spirit is alive in every brewer, harking back to their homebrew days. The brewers at Trillium allow the little homebrewer in them to emerge with an experimental hop series, Permutation Series, to test the waters of "what if" when it comes to hops.
Hazy, nearly turbid rusty gold, Number Fifty, a thick and foamy froth walls off the nose with a starburst of tropical, citrus, melon and herbal aromatics. A moderate rich maltiness brings a taste of caramelized breadiness, honey and pastry crust to the initial taste in form of grilled poundcake.
Sweetness soon subsides and the ensuing dryness brings those hops to the middle palate, leading with a tropical medley of pineapple, papaya, mango and apricot. The racy acidity of citrus follows with a radiant orange taste that hangs on tangerine, mandarin orange and blood orange with peps of red grapefruit and lemon shining at times. Trending herbal with black tea, blackcurrant, freshly shaven spruce and a spicy, juicy tang of kiwi and verbena follow into a moderately bitter finish.
Medium bodied, the beer's malt creaminess has the beer feeling fuller early. But the trek to dryness and the ale's tendency to favor hop flavor and spice as the finish brisk, malty dry and lingering with herb, woods and tea.
