Nestled in the bay just off the coast, Boston's Harbor Islands are rich with history and intrigue. Each is known for its unique appeal and backstory, with a string of larger narratives tying them together en masse. The Harbor Islands IPA series grew out of the exploration that took place in our Permutation Series, where we developed a new series of IPAs that showcases extraordinary hops, building on our team's experience brewing hoppy beer at Trillium.
Georges Island is best known for its vast parade ground and the historic Fort Warren. Active throughout the 1800s and 1900s, Fort Warren served many different purposes before being decommissioned and transferred to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. These days Georges Island welcomes city visitors for historic tours, group events, and the occasional old-time baseball game.
Georges Island IPA features Nelson hops, pouring a deep orange with medium plus haze. Orange and clementine burst on the nose with a note of white grape underneath. Citrus is featured on the palate with a touch of floral pine and grapefruit pith. Medium bodied and full of flavor, the perfect beer for a day on the water.
MALT: Pale Malt, Honey Malt, Victory Malt
HOPS: Nelson

Like it very much. Hope it’s not retired. Soupy, slightly sweet. Orange. Understated pine. Flavorful. Slight bite at the end.

L: Pours a pale gold color with a full haze. A gentle pour yields two fingers of a rocky, white head with poor retention. As it goes down it leaves no lacing.
S: Oranges, mango, light notes of papaya, light notes of green grape, light notes of earth, and a touch of doughy malt
T: Orange, mango, pineapple, green grape, light earthy grass notes, a bit of bitter grapefruit pith, and a bit of doughy malt.
F: Medium-full body with low carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth, but a bit watery for the style. The finish has a nice dryness to it.
O: Good NEIPA. Not as earthy and white winey as I typically like my Nelson beers, but what it does it does well. Recommended.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium in Canton for about seventeen dollars. My thirty second brew from these guys. This beer is extremely good, @ a not-too-bad price point. Definitely getting again.

Even though this is "retired" I just bought this direct from the brewery in Canton, so perhaps it is unretired now. The descriptor has it about right but I would add that this has a really cloudy, almost apricot nectar look to it, no head retention. The nose is orange clementine, but perhaps a bit mango too. There is definitely lots of fruity hop, not really full bodied, very Trillium like, with a little drying bite in the end. I'm not getting any pine per descriptor, but I'll go with the grapefruit pith. This is a really good, solid, a touch mouth puckering in the finish. No booziness, which I appreciate.

Murky, juicy, orange-gold coloring, medium-plus haze, off-white head of soapy, differentiated bubbles with spotty lacing.
Heavy honeydew, cantaloupe, mango, pineapple, grape, and mandarin on the nose. Pleasantly sweet and very grassy. Fairly mellow but what’s there is quite wonderful.
Less congruent on the tongue. Meaningful white wine and melon profile, with light jam and overripe tropical fruit notes. Semi-sweet with a dry finish, and incredibly grassy. Good but not great flavor profile, but very easy drinking.
Typical NE IPA feel, soft and silky. Zero alcohol presence.

Picked this up last year up in Massachusetts, on the same weekend when the Patriots started their season. This was dated 8/31 of last year and held up well over the months since as there wasn't much sediment in the liquid at all. Quite warming, this felt a bit strong than it was in actuality and reminded me of white wine because of it's dry nature, woody undertone, and strong white grape presence...
Not a bad pour to this as the liquid was a deep and hazy combination of apricot and orange with hardly any light seeping in around the edges. Tons of frothy head topped this off but the lacing left behind was quite spotty and wavy, with hardly any discernible rings to be seen. Tons of passion fruit, light wood, white grape, and lychee in the nose as the taste also contained all of those notes. Citrus rind and tons of malt came through in the taste as this was more enjoyable and complex as it completely warmed up. Plenty of bread balanced this out as this wasn't overly hoppy but the flavors lingered for quite a while once I finished this off, as there was a tingle around my teeth that took a while to fully subside.
Not a lot of booze here as the warming was more from the grape and wood than anything else. The Nelson was present in full form but wasn't overpowering as this beer was nicely balanced. Nicely enjoyable and nearly a Pale Ale than an IPA, I'd have this again as it was one of Trillium's beers that would certainly please nearly everyone!

Pours hazy, orange-brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is lychee, orange, and mango. Medium-heavy bodied, sweet, with moderate carbonation. Slightly above average ipa. Could do again or pass.
