Permutation is our experimental series of small batch offerings, showcasing the unique visions and innovative concepts developed by our brewing and cellar crew.
Permutation #67 is our take on the unique German Lager style of Kellerbiers. Typically referring to a bright, unfiltered pale lager, Kellerbiers, literally translated as “cellar beer”, were historically served directly from their aging tanks in the brewery’s rathskeller, or the basement of their beer hall. While tradition calls for this beer to be served directly from the tank, we are presenting our Keller Helles as a draft only release.
Permutation #67 pours a vibrant golden color with a subtle haze that catches the light in glass. A clean, fresh lager profile displays aromas of freshly baked whole grain bread and kneaded biscuit dough with a subtle floral touch. The palate closely follows as a delicate snap of lemony-herbal hops balances the initial malt sweetness. Slightly fuller bodied than our recent pale lagers, Permutation #67 has a crisp and elegant finish that makes for a highly enjoyable beer.
MALT: Pilsner Malt, Carahell, Melanoidin, Acidulated Malt
HOPS: Hallertau Magnum, Hallertau Mittelfruh

Served at the Oktoberfest at Trillium Fenway in a liter glass stein (contradictory, of course).
Nice two-finger head which settles to a thin layer of minute bubbles. Very good web like lace. Pale gold color with a significant haze.
Mild aroma, similar to a Helles. Low hop presence.
The taste is relatively dry with a sizable bitter kick in the swallow. The pale malt features nearly no sugars making the approach astringency.

On-tap in Canton. Excited to try this because it’s one of my favorite styles and I knew they’d brew a fantastic representation of this classic and unappreciated German lager. Rich, grainy, earthy, and properly clean/smooth. Could drink it all day. So much character in a seemingly benign style. You can keep your IPAs, I’ll drink lagers like this.
Looking at the first few ratings, it’s honestly incomprehensible that they could score it so low. Because the beer is objectively stellar. I guarantee the only reason for the subpar scores is because they’re comparing it to a Trillium IPA, which is patently absurd. These accounts should be banned from BA.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
