Long Life is a American Wild Ale aged in oak casks with different varieties of wine grapes, hops and fruits. Each beer in the series is an appreciation of the nuance and complexity that extended time in oak imparts. All-in-all over two and a half years of barrel-aging and cellaring went into bringing this series to the bottle.

This edition of Long Life is aged on Muscat grape juice, Mandarina Bavaria hops, and apricot. Pouring a light golden straw, Long Life - Apricot offers layers of engaging aromatics as notes of bright citrus zest meld with white table grape and blossom honey, underpinned by light bread dough and barnyard funk. The Muscat grapes lead on the palate offering flavors of asian pear, mandarin orange and white flowers. Overtones of ripe apricot carry through to the finish where the Mandarina Bavaria hops amplify the palate with flavors of fresh tangerine and sweet meyer lemon and add a delicate herbaceous pop. Long Life - Apricot is pleasantly sour with a medium body, invigorating carbonation and a mouthwatering finish.

MALT: Pilsner, White Wheat, Rye

HOPS: Mandarina Bavaria, CTZ

Copenhagen 18/10 2022. 35,5 cl bottle from Mikkeller web-shop. Off-white label with a wooden barrel.

Pours opaque unclear, golden amber with a small white head. Bubbly. Disappears after a few seconds. No lacing.

Aroma is intense with a strong tart and citric scent with a funky touch. Citrus and gooseberries. Sour cheese and humid cellar. A bit sharp.

Strong carbonation. Thin, oily, lively and tingling texture. On the verge of being fizzy.

Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is a tad thin. Sour and austere. Lingers for a bit. Finish is dry.

A fine funky and tart brew.

Smells funky oaky woody spicy complex, dusty, tart, slight acidic vinegary, fruity, grains, almost like a lambic, with some white wine grape juice and orange citrusy earthy grassy notes. Tastes really juicy with tart muscat wine grape juice, orange citrusy tangerine, lightly tropical, fruity, mildly acidic, oak, spice, dusty funk, grains, with some floral earthy grassy pine. Feels pretty thick medium-full bodied, creamy smooth with moderate carbonation. Really great and unique wild ale.
