Permutation is our experimental series of small batch offerings, showcasing the unique visions and innovative concepts developed by our brewing and cellar crew. We name these beers in sequence - their numbering first indicates the year in the Trillium lifespan that the beer was released, followed by a recipe indicator. Learn more about our Permutation series by checking out our overview and our refresh.

Brewed at our Canton location, Permutation 6.14 is an IPA whirlpooled and extensively dry hopped with Citra. Pouring a hazy yellow-orange color, Permutation 6.14 offers heavy citrus forward aromas of pink grapefruit and freshly squeezed orange that continue right through to the palate where unmistakably tropical notes of bright pineapple and fresh mango are underpinned by flavors of lychee and passion fruit. Medium bodied with a pillowy soft mouthfeel and delicate floral accent on the finish, Permutation 6.14 has a smooth, mouthwatering finish.

Orange golden fog in the glass. Really pleasant sticky lacing. There is almost a floral or leafy element to the citrus - not exactly zest but more like what I imagine an orange grove to smell like. This is almost a throwback trillium ipa with the yeast playing a really great role. While extremely “juicy”, there is an exemplary tangy bitterness and dry finish. So easy to gulp, but resist and let it develop for a while as nuances pop as it warms. Really spry on the tongue. Awesome beer.

Canned 05/08/19. Picked up at the Fort Point brewery. Not much to report here. It’s a single-hopped Citra IPA. Smells, tastes, and feels like soft citrus heaven.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip. Canned on 5/8/19.

Slightly hazy amber color with fluffy white head that took a couple minutes to recede. Not as thick and milky looking like a lot of other trillium IPAs.

Smells of grapefruit pith and some pineapple. Flavors of wheat, bitter citrus pith, a little tropical fruit and something interesting on the finish- the best I can describe it is like the hard confectioners sugar cake toppings you can buy in the grocery store to put on top of a birthday cake or whatever. Thin, watery mouthfeel- not exactly a bad thing but not typical for a lot of trillium IPAs.

Not a bad beer, but it didn’t wow me, either. Appreciate the wetter mouthfeel of this one for a hot day, but it wasn’t the tropical or complex juice bomb I was expecting from the brewer notes.

16oz can poured into a tulip.

Hazy orange body with a frothy white bead and good retention / lacing.

Aroma of bready grain and yeast, light citrus and stale hops.

Citrus and grassy, earthy hops on the tongue. Dry and lightly creamy but also a bit watery. Virtually no bitterness with a medium body and carbonation.

Mediocre for trillium standards
