For the Sake of the Sea our newest collaboration brewed in celebration of The New England Aquarium’s 50th anniversary this Thursday, June 20th 2019. As lifelong New Englanders, many of us at Trillium can remember trips to the New England Aquarium and the wonder that we felt seeing amazing ocean creatures that are often hidden or overlooked. Utilizing a variety of flaked grains in the malt bill and hopping with Citra and Sabro, this IPA draws attention to the responsibility we all bear to keep our planet and specifically the sea a healthy place for all creatures.

For the Sake of the Sea IPA hits the glass a golden yellow color with moderate haze, immediately lofting bright tropical aromas of pineapple and melon with vibrant hints of citrus zest and woodsy pine. Lush flavors of tangerine and lemon peel take the lead on the palate as bold waves of ripe stone fruit carry through to the finish. Medium bodied and balanced with a pillowy soft mouthfeel and delicate floral bite, For the Sake of the Sea makes for a refreshing sip and an important conversation starter. A part of the proceeds from all can and draft sales of For the Sake of the Sea will be donated to the NEAQ to support their conservation initiatives!

A: Murky yellow gold with rich white head and very sticky lacing.
N: Lots of citrus and tropical notes with some pine notes and some malty notes.
T: Very clean and crisp citrus with some creamy tropical notes and a minor pine bite. A little sweet malt feel but minor.
M: Clean and no ABV feel, very low bitterness and creamy.
O: A well done IPA as always, Trillium is always spot on with what they do.

L - I keep wanting to pronounce this as sake the alcoholic beverage. Lol. Pours a muted yellowy orange haze. Reminiscent of Trill pale ales.

S - toasted and candied orange. Warm and inviting. Lemon and grapefruit spice. Perhaps some marshmallow.

T - more of the above, just with a slight herbal/floral lean. Candied prickly pear, zesty citrus, and lightly sweet tangerine fruitiness. Has a quick, bright pop that I'm thinking is thanks to the Sabro. Finishes with a kiss of honey and light dryness.

F - medium-thin with low carbonation that slides down the throat no problem.

O - on the less adventurous side of Trillium beers, this feels closer to one of their pale ales than an IPA. It does feature tight, crisp flavors in an easy-to-drink package.

Hazy sunset yellow-orange with a bubbly airy white head dying quickly to a thin ring.

Taste is less sharp and acidic than many other Trill hops as of late. Lightly dank eucalyptus and spice pair with an orange and mango character as the smooth medium body has a soft fulfilling crispness finishing semi-dry bringing out a little cracker and mint.

Dated 6/18/19 on the bottom of the can, 2.5 weeks since brewing.

Pours a murky dark yellow-gold with two fingers of puffy slightly off-white head. Nose is bursting with fresh pineapple, cantaloupe, mandarin orange, slight herbaceousness, oatmeal and resin. Aromas really wafting off this brew! Taste follows the nose, bringing in notes of earthiness, citrus rind, ruby grapefruit, slight mango and a hint of black pepper. This brew is burst with tropical notes underlain by a spicy earthy resin and citrus peel. Smooth medium body with rolling carbonation. Low+ bitterness, medium- drying and medium sweetness. Great balanced tropical brew with a good cause behind it. Can't go wrong here.

16oz can, Trillium snifter glass. Pours a pulpy, darker yellow body, slight orange hue, one finger white head, good retention, bit of lacing. Smell is fair bit of spicy herbal hop aromatics, bit of lemon and grapefruit. Mild zest. It's got a nice solid light sugary backbone as well. Flavour follows. This has a more mild herbal bite throughout, especially on the finish. Has a fair bit of dry herbal bitterness from the get go. It's a bit more astringent than I expected. Medium lighter bodied, good carbonation. Bitter herbal bite from the beginning to the end. It's a nice change of pace overall, certainly has more of a bitter bite to it than most others- it has a big herbal bitterness rather than actual hop bite.
