The Emerald Necklace series tells a foundational piece of the Trillium Brewing story. If you’ve visited our home of Boston, you’ve likely encountered and enjoyed a section of the Emerald Necklace. Beginning downtown at the Boston Common and Public Garden, extending out to Back Bay, and all the way to Dorchester, this 1,100 acre, seven-mile-long public park system is a cherished green oasis in the heart of the city. Years ago, JC cultivated a plot in the Fenway Victory Gardens, where he grew edible and decorative plants, trees, and even some hop bines!
The second beer in the series takes us to The Riverway, a 34-acre park that serves as a border between Boston and neighboring Brookline. Dual-hopped with two favorites from the Pacific Northwest, Citra and Mosaic each display their distinct tropical traits. We taste orange sherbet, meyer lemon, and juicy peach. A gentle sweetness that never nears cloying is embraced by a refined bitterness rounding out each sip.
Malt: 2-Row American Barley, Rolled Oats, C-15
Hops: Mosaic, Citra

The highlight is the light citrus and medium bitterness. Not citrus over the top, rather a pleasant balance between the hop flavors makes this beer special.
Good mouthfeel, soft and finishes dry, and solid carbonation.

Brew had the standard good looks of. Trillium IPA. Taste has a lot of lemon, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, honeydew melon, peach, some floral notes, yeast, buttery bread, orange creamsicle and mild spices. Very smooth, almost like oats were used in the mash; mild bitterness, easy to drink.

Soft, pale yellow pour, semi-translucent, body appears opaque in the glass; thick head, white and creamy. Fresh citrus aroma; tangerine and grapefruit; very faint oat underpinning. The taste mimics the smell; very citrus-forward; white grapefruit with orange and light citrus pith bitterness; juicy; medium-light bitterness. Heavy body; delicate acidity.
This is, perhaps, one of the best citrus-forward beers I've experienced, the smell and taste exuding freshly cut fruits. I like that the acidity and flavor are not overpowering yet clearly in command of the total palate experience. Well made, very balanced, suitably complex and intriguing, definitely appealing and satisfying.
ABV: 7%; pouring temperature: 39 °F; canning info: 06/03/24 (Emerald Necklace Series)

Picked up a four pack of cans at Curtis Liquors in Cohasset for about twenty two dollars. My sixty ninth brew from these guys. Canned on date of 6/3/24. Watered down, mediocre taste, way overpriced.

As all Trilliums, this is another example of great brewing. Well developed and apparent during the beginning, middle, and end of the tasting spectrum. Trillium is at the top five of my favorite brewers. The Emerald Necklace series are IPA's that highlight stone fruit, sweet creamy citrus, with a glimpse of piney bitterness that continues to cycle in each sip. Phenomenal beer that holds its own in my ever changing characteristics that I look forward to in top tier brewers.
