I had never had a beer like this one before! A really unique combination of sour and IPA flavors. I can totally understand that this might not be everybody's cup of...well, beer. But for me it was well worth picking up a 4-pack. Every sip was lip-smacking due to the tartness, but was nicely in balance with the hoppy and fruity flavors from the IPA profile. Definitely worth trying - I don't know of too many other beers out there with this flavor profile!

 

 

 

Served on tap into a 10 oz (296 ml) stemmed glass that seemed a cross between a Wiezen and a Pilsner at Growler's Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe, NY.
A: Pours a cloudy pink golden color (think pink grapefruit juice) with no more than a half finger, pink chiffon head, solid rim retention, but no lacing to speak off.
S: On the slightly tart side of tangy with aromas of pink grapefruit, passionfruit, unripened nectarine, and pineapple, but also lactic acid, barnyard, and wet hay. Delightful, if you like that sort of thing.
T: Semisweet and mildly tart with a palate that closely favors the fruity elements of the nose. Very low bitterness (if any).
M: Medium bodied with low to moderate effervescence.
O: The server said that this was Trillium's first foray into the American Wild Ale arena. I do not know if that is true, but it was outstanding.

Upon first sip, this beer had that kind of quality that you see in a quirky friend that you try to limit hanging out with because they mentally drain you with their habitual antics. It takes a toll. You need time to recover. You need a blanket and some tea and just to hide for a while and turn off your social media.

That’s just the first sip. Was my impression wrong? Absolutely.

You find out through the beer’s description that this beer was inspired by Sleepyhead, song courtesy of Passion Pit. This early 2010s banger is an absolute smash hit, and you cannot go wrong listening to this song while sipping this brew. It comes alive. It’s ELECTRIC. It’s neon green. It’s alive and abundant, fruitful and full of true life. I have taken in a new and unique experience that I truly cherish.

I highly recommend pairing this beer with its muse for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Also the packaging. Much like this beer, the beautiful begonias make for a delightful moment. You can’t go wrong. Lean into this beer, you’re going to be surprised and that’s in the best possible way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reminds me of one on the very fruit forward Permutations that was out towards the end of summer. Very fruity with a taste lingers afterwards. Slight bitter taste that is offset nicely by the lactose and passion fruit. I would venture to say this is more of a warm weather beer. Would be nice to drink sitting on Mayflower Beach on a late July summer day watching the sunset.
