Collaboration with Horus Aged Ales
When Kyle from Horus came to visit back in early August, we ended up taking a trip down memory lane. Reminiscing about childhood, and the treats that we would find at our grandmothers' houses, JC remembered the sesame and honey candies that his memere used to have. Striking a really interesting balance between rich savoriness and sweetness, we began to explore how we could realize this experience in a beer.
Sesame Candy, the latest in our Dessert Series, pours an opaque jet black with a beautiful mocha-colored head. Upon initial sip, the palate is greeted with savory notes of halva, black sesame cream puffs, crème brûlée, and roasty hot chocolate. Bold in its approach, with a viscous mouthfeel and silky carbonation, Sesame Candy is a unique and welcomed entry to our Dessert Series.
ABV: 13.3%
Malt: Rahr 2-Row, Pale Chocolate, Golden Naked Oats, Simpson DRC, Chocolate Wheat, Chocolate Malt, Chocolate Rye, Roasted Barley
Hops: Hop Extract
Additional Ingredients: Black Sesame, Toasted Sesame, Tahini, Vanilla Beans, Raw Wildflower Honey, Belgian Candi Syrup

Pours black with a receding fluffy brown foam head. Nose of toasted sesame seeds, earthy tahini, sweet honey, vanilla, dark chocolate, dark caramel, marshmallow, graham cracker, savory s’mores, and sesame candy. Tastes like sweet vanilla, wildflower honey, marshmallow, dark chocolate cake, dark caramel, dark fruity molasses, brown sugar, toasted sesame, tahini, nutty savory s’mores, and sesame candies. Feels medium lighter bodied, creamy soft and smooth with moderate carbonation. Overall a really great sesame candy imperial stout.
