Collaboration with WeldWerks Brewing Co.
We first met WeldWerks founder and brewmaster Neil Fisher at the Craft Beer & Brewing Brewers Retreat in Boothbay Harbor, ME, in early June of 2019. Enjoying some post-dinner beers around a campfire one night, Neil and JC began to geek out over the similarities and differences behind how we each conceive, formulate, and brew our respective beers. The idea to fuse techniques and two of our flagship recipes was born. Street Bits combines an amped-up version of the grist bill from our Street Series with the hopping profile and schedule of WeldWerks' acclaimed Juicy Bits IPA.
Intensely-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado, the resulting collaborative double IPA presents a warm orange color with a thick, glowing haze. Fragrant aromatics of pithy orange, juicy pineapple, grapefruit peel, and mango are emitted from the glass immediately after pouring. Featuring a full, fluffy mouthfeel with soft carbonation and a hint of sweetness, Street Bits harkens to the beers that inspired its creation while offering something new and singular.
Malt: American 2-Row Barley, Flaked Wheat, Rolled Oats
Hops: Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado

Pours an opaque pale orange with a finger and a half of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is orange, mango, papaya and tangerine oozing from every corner. It smells like a tropical fruit smoothie, with just a whisper of bread yeast. Flavor profile is orange, mango, tangerine, papaya, guava and nutty, bready malt and yeast. Tropical fruits are the story, background and emphasis here, with malts adding just a sliver of discernible support. Mouth feel is lightly creamy with a soft, pillowy texture that carries with it just a hint of grain. Grain is more of a zesty rind within each sip, but falls shy of pulp. Overall, big tropical fruits that are blended among themselves well.

Growler from the source.
Pours cloudy yellow with an inch of white fluff. Retention and lacing are minimal. Tangerine, peach, mango, and pineapple in the nose. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Ripe tropicals awash the palate with zero malt and a minimal bitterness. Peach, orange, and mango. Finishes with lingering juicy citrus.

Thanks for the can Kevin!
A- Tallboy into a tulip glass with a semi-floury, cloudy pale yellow-straw body and a three finger cap. The head has a thick and frothy texture. Good head retention and sheets of lacing.
S- Bold and juicy, bright hops saturate the nasal receptors. Really a beautifully balanced and strong bouquet of hops. Bright pineapple, dank weed, guava, mango and passionfruit notes with tangerine, grapefruit, floral, bubble gum, melon and herbal hints backing that.
T- With the bitterness it becomes a bit more citrusy here but it still flaunts the nectar and bright juicy hop profile. Melon, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, papaya, dank weed, onion, creamsicle, mango, bubble gum and floral hops. Bitterness is strong but never powdery or burning. Hints of oats and whole grains as well as cracker.
MF- Thick and creamy texture. The carbonation is at a high level and the beer really puffs up with a softness on the palate. Ends with a clean strong bitterness.
Beautiful aroma followed up by a strong performance on the taste buds. Juicy, citrusy and dank hops linger forever on the palate.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Canned on 11/22/19
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a cloudy straw yellow color and was topped by a finely bubbled, half-inch tall cap of bright white froth that quickly fizzled away. A thin collar encircled the liquid. No lacing whatsoever.
The aroma was outstanding. Super fruity and bright with big juicy tangerine notes. Fairly sweet but also somewhat tart. Lots of ripe mango and passionfruit too. Juicy Fruit gum came to mind. As the beer sat, some weed-like dankness appeared. Later, the passionfruit really intensified. A touch of white grapefruit was also noticeable.
The flavor profile was fantastic as well. Again, loads of juicy tangerine. Excellent balance of sweet and tart. Passionfruit appeared next. Some mango and orange creamsicle too. Lots of lemony tartness in the center. White grapefruit came through on the back end and the finish. Slightly pithy and bitter. Some boozy warmth and rind-like bitterness were apparent after the swallow.
Nice frothy, fluffy mouthfeel. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a finely bubbled, fairly aggressive effervescence that turned creamy and smooth on the palate.
Trillium’s hoppy beer collaborations can be hit or miss, but this double IPA was outstanding. The blend of hops gave the beer some amazing tropical fruit and citrus qualities, and the malts provided just enough balance to keep the bitterness in check. I would love to see this beer (or something very similar) become a regular offering in their rotation.
