How many breweries does it take to conceive of a modern-day interpretation on a nearly extinct, yet incredibly complex traditional British Strong Ale closely related to Barleywine and Old Ale? We once again teamed up with our friends at Cloudwater, Other Half, Monkish, and The Veil to brew Threads, a brightly acidic Stock Ale inspired by a rich history of English Brewing. Brewed back in March of 2017, Threads was aged in a variety of barrels including Bourbon, Apple Brandy, Rye, and Maple Bourbon.
Toasted coconut pairs remarkably well with the rich oakiness inherent in Threads, providing an implicit airy quality that lifts rich dark fruit notes ranging from fig to raisin and tart cherry. Sourcing liquid from a wide variety of barrels contributes a layered spirituous aspect that is built for slow sipping throughout a chilly winter evening.
ABV: 15.2%
Malt: Maris Otter, C-120, Simpsons DRC
Hops: CTZ, Centennial Chinook
Additional Ingredients: Toasted Coconut

Drank 05.20.25 out of a Trillium tulip. ABV - 15.7%.
I’m on the fence on this - it should age well given that it’s a Stock Ale, so I’m not giving it a break here, but the bottom line for me is that it just doesn’t taste great. It could use more sweetness. Nice booze from the smell - kind of a brandy like bite on the taste too. Had kind of a nasty after taste. All in all - in my opinion - a failure of a Stock Ale but still completely drinkable.

On tap at Fenway. Vile stuff, worst offering I've had to date from Trillium. It's like I just got shrunk down and fell inside of a raisin and now I'm drowning in sickly sweet raisin goop and it is not fun. Also stupid expensive

Pours dark red maroon brown with a dissipating tan head. Smells like toasted coconut, raisin, figs, dried fruit, dark fruits, black grapes, prune, stewed plums, cherry, apple, toasted bread, caramel, dark toffee, hints of chocolate, some apricot, oak barrel, apple brandy, maple bourbon, rye whiskey, bourbon, and earthy leafy hops. Tastes sweet and fruity, kinda dark, a bit like a barleywine, rich with dark fruits and dried fruits, maple bourbon, apple brandy, rye whiskey, bourbon, caramel, chocolate, dark toffee, apple, grapes, plum, figs, apricot, cherry, raisins, toasted bread, toasted coconut, mild earthy leafy hops, tangy with rich sweet notes lingering. Feels medium-light bodied, smooth and slick with moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice barrel aged stock ale with toasted coconut.
