Every four years, the synchronizing of the calendar with the solar year grants us February 29th, better known as Leap Day. Not one to sit idly with the gift of an extra day, we've decided to take advantage and release our Quadrennial IPA, Leap Beer!

Astonishingly soft, with explosive hop aromatics, Leap Beer is a heavily-oated Double IPA, double dry-hopped with a bountiful amount of Galaxy and Simcoe. When poured, we're greeted with a warm, light straw color with a dense, enticing haze. Coupled with a bouquet of mouth-watering aromas of mango nectar, pineapple juice, and papaya, the first sip is highly anticipated. The saturated tropical character carries through on the palate, complemented by a focused bitterness and creamy mouthfeel. Enjoy Leap Beer while it's here, as it won't come around too often.

MALT: Pilsner Malt, Rolled Oats

HOPS: Galaxy, Simcoe, CTZ

Hazy orange body, almost a little turbid actually, white finger of foam tops it off. Super fruity nose: nectarine, pineapple, mango, papaya, cantaloupe, and grapefruit with some onion like dank hops. Taste while still fruity and juicy, not as vibrant as the nose, now the peach and minor tropical tones with piney and earthy hops. Feel is not juicy but certainly in the hazy realm, softer and lighter, ending has a weird bite to it, not resin but something there is odd

Dated 2/27/20 on the bottom of the can, just under 4 weeks since canning.

Pours an extremely pale straw, nearly opaque with a finger of bubbly white head that disappeared almost immediately. Intensely tropical nose with notes of pineapple, mango, papaya, slight bubblegum, slight resin, portuguese sweet bread, oats and grapefruit rind. Taste follows the nose but is less rich in tropical fruit. It's much more bitter than I expected, very grapefruity, with an aftertaste that reminds me of wet leaves or the smell of a forest floor, earthy but dank. Smooth medium body with a little bit of booziness detectable. Medium+ sweetness, high- initial bitterness that bites but smooths out rather quickly. Not the juice bomb I expect from Trillium but I still really like it, I love a good bitter DIPA!

Canned on 2/27. Thanks to my brother John for picking me up some cans.
S wonderful, aromatic, fruity
L beautiful straw hazy liquid
M good carbonation, semi thick
T not sure how to fully describe. Astringent characteristic overwhelms the the bland flavors
O looks and smells great but the flavor profile is rather bland and forgettable. Coupled with the astringency makes this a disappointing beer. Had a lot of hope for this beer but it just didn’t pan out. The good news is they have four more years to work the kinks out of flavor profile

Cloudy opaque pale yellow gold with a frothy white foam head. Smells like mango nectar, pineapple juice, papaya, tropical citrus fruit, some peachy stone fruit, pale bready malt, with dank sweet oniony earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes a bit peppery and spicy with tropical fruit and citrus underlying, mango, pineapple, orange pith, lemon peel, some pale bready malt, creamy oats, with dank green earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium plus bodied, smooth and creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice double dry hopped double IPA.
