The Assorted Treats series was born out of the desire to create a daily-drinking version of our culinary-inspired stouts. Designed to encapsulate some of our favorite after-dinner sweets, our Dessert Series imperial stouts are decadent, rich, and often on the higher end of the ABV spectrum. With Assorted Treats, you won't need a special occasion or group of friends to enjoy a little self-indulgence.
The third release in the series is reminiscent of chocolate-drizzled almond candies. Almond Crunch pours a deep brown color with walnut highlights and a mocha-tinged head. Warm aromas of toasted almond, baker's chocolate, thick fudge, and marzipan delight the palate. Medium-bodied and lightly sweet, Almond Crunch skillfully toes the line between decadence and drinkability.

This was another beer from Trillium that a friend of mine picked up recently, as I'd never had it before. I love their bottled stouts but this one was not quite as strong, or as multi-faceted, as it tasted like a dessert with quite a bit of nuttiness on hand as well. Oddly reminiscent of soda, this was quite lively and went down easily but thankfully, wasn't to sweet on the palate!
Of course, this poured a dark almond brown with a soft, mocha head that quickly settled down. Only a few scattered spots of lacing remained on my pint glass as I worked my way through this as this might have been the thinnest stout that I've ever had from these guys. Lots of almond, hazelnut, and marzipan in the nose with a bit of chocolate underneath all of that. This tasted like a confection that was bitter, bubbly, and stickily sweet in the aftertaste, with a bit of chalky baker's chocolate staying around for the duration. Warming and effervescent, this went down easy with a lot of lip-smacking on my part once I finished it off.
Hard to detect the booze in this as I warmed up just a notch while having this, although it would have been easy to enjoy another can after this one. Dated 10/23, this felt nice and fresh while being lots of fun and unoffensive to those unaccustomed to the style. This was a nice American Stout that also served as a welcome respite from Trillium's usual fare.
