Presenting an inviting soft yellow color with a heavy haze, Deciduous 2020 displays a remarkably complex aroma. The nose is first greeted with a charge of Galaxy's signature overripe tropical fruit character, offering notes of pineapple juice, sliced mango and passionfruit. As the beer transitions towards the back of the palate, Simcoe makes its presence known, providing a vibrant grapefruit zest and resinous pine character that allows for balance and nuance. Soft and satisfyingly full-bodied thanks to the generous oat addition, Deciduous finishes a touch more bitter than the typical Trillium Double IPA.

16oz can dated 10/23/20.
Pours cloudy yellow with a minimal head, retention, or lacing. Pithy, pungent hops in the nose. Hard peaches, white grape, grapefruit, and orange pith. Medium bodied with a chalky, almost gritty mouthfeel. Raw, green, bitter hops on the palate. Grapefruit pith with unripe citrus aplenty. Finishes bitter and raw with a mild throat burn.

Can dated 10/21/20, served in a tulip glass. Pours a thick pale hazy yellow color with a quickly receding white head and virtually no lacing. Really juicy, sweet tropical fruits on the nose: mango, pineapple, guava, and some peach. The flavors of this one were really interesting - there’s lots of the same tropical fruits on the front half of the sip, but completely changes profile on the back half - instead going to more of a piney, resinous, dank finish. Really fluffy and chewy mouthfeel, like a lot of other Trillium DIPAS. Substantial amount of hop oils left on the palate, leaving a lingering bitterness. I didn’t have a chance to try the single hopped version of this beer last year, so can’t compare, but I’m certain the DDH treatment amps things up a few notches. I really enjoyed it.
