Established by Side Project Brewing in 2017, Shared Brewing was created as an outlet for their team members to develop and brew recipes of their own, without necessarily being aged for extended periods in oak barrels, of which all Side Project beers are. One of Shared's earliest canned releases, Backpack Fashion Show, is a Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA with a rotating hop bill. For our Freaky Friday release, we chose to brew the third iteration of the beer, with heavy additions of Citra, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin.
Pouring a pale, sunshiney-yellow with a soft, heavy haze, Backpack Fashion Show immediately offers a mouthwatering swell of ripe tropical fruit aromas. Sweet pineapple, zippy mango flesh, and pink starburst jolt from the glass, shrouding secondary citrus and earthy notes of orange zest and pine resin that poke their heads out as the glass warms. Finishing full-bodied and just a touch sweet, Backpack Fashion show is mouth-coating hop goodness.
MALT: American 2-row Barley, Pilsner, Flaked Oats, Malted Oats, White Wheat
HOPS: Citra, Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin

Pours cloudy yellow with a minimal head, retention, or lacing. Pungent spicy citrus in the nose with grapefruit, hard peaches, lime, and pine. Medium bodied with an almost chalky mouthfeel. Pithy citrus skins on the palate with minimal malt and a drying bitterness. Grapefruit, tangerine zest, peach skins, and pine. Finishes dry with lingering spicy, pithy citrus.

Served in a tulip
Cloudy, golden yellow appearance. The nearly opaque liquid was topped a film of tiny off-white bubbles that dissolved almost instantaneously. No lacing whatsoever.
The nose was amazingly hoppy and bold. Super fruity and complex with a big tropical fruit presence. Juicy Fruit gum came to mind. Mango and peach were also noticeable. Some melon too. As the beer warmed, a subtle dankness appeared.
The flavor profile deviated significantly from the nose. Pale malts and flaked oats were noticeable on the front end. Citrus notes came through as well. Tangy clementine and kumquat perhaps. Hint of mango and peach. White grapefruit appeared in the center and took over as the beer moved along the palate. Big pithy, bitter, grapefruit rind-like notes rounded things out in the finish. A touch of hop burn lingered after the swallow.
Terrific smooth, creamy, fluffy mouthfeel. Lighter bodied for the style. The liquid contained a finer bubbled, somewhat subtle effervescence that turned soft and slick on the palate.
Two weeks in, and this triple dry-hopped double IPA was still drinking quite green. The law of diminishing returns definitely seemed to be at play here. Too much of a good thing can actually be too much.

I almost didn't buy it because of the low (for Trillium) ratings but noted there were very few raters and there's little from Trillium that I don't like.
Very nice fresh fruity/hoppy beer. On par with Trilliums excellent NEIPAs.

Pours cloudy opaque pale yellow gold with a frothy white foam head that sticks around with decent retention. Smells really great, huge and intense, tropical fruits, dank earthy herbs, slight cilantro, garlicy onion, zippy mango, pineapple, slight guava, zesty grapefruit, orange citrus, melon, some white grape, hints of pale crackery bready malts, subtle vanilla, and dank resinous earthy herbal floral spicy pine. Taste follows for the most part, very pale and bright to show off the hop profile which is intense, huge, enormous rich tropical fruit notes of yellow mango, lush pineapple, hints of guava rind, pithy grapefruit, zesty orange citrus, some melon, white grape, mild pale crackery bready malt, slight oniony cilantro, and spicy dank resinous earthy herbal floral pine. Feels medium bodied, fairly creamy with smooth moderate low carbonation. Overall a nice triple dry-hopped DIPA.
