Pouring a deep and hazy golden yellow, a healthy addition of Flaked Wheat offers a luscious canvas for A LOT of Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy. Super-saturated tropical aromas of mango at peak ripeness, pineapple juice, and lychee gummies swarm the palate the moment the can is cracked. The plush mouthfeel is built for the hop onslaught, rounding each sip out with a softness that pairs well with a gentle resinous character.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
01/13/21
Served in a tulip
Cloudy, honey yellow appearance. The opaque body was topped by a small, bubbly film that quickly dissolved. Zero head retention and no lacing whatsoever. Typical for a Trillium hoppy beer.
The aroma was fantastic and quite unique. Super fruity and bright. Tropical fruit notes came through strong. Passionfruit was apparent. Good dose of papaya and mango too. There was an subtle musty dankness as well that was reminiscent of durian fruit. Touch of citrus. As the beer warmed, grapefruit notes appeared. Juicy orange notes also came forth later. More sweet mango too.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose. Uber fruity and complex. Nice melding of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Loads of juicy orange up front. Ripe mango appeared as the beer moved along the palate. Good amount of sweetness. Candied pineapple was noticeable in the center. White grapefruit rounded things out in the finish. Touch of pithy bitterness. With time, the mango notes intensified.
Excellent creamy, slick, full bodied mouthfeel. Thick and nectar-like. The liquid contained a fine, fairly zippy effervescence that fluffed up nicely on the palate.
Upper Case is one of my favorite beers in Trillium’s hoppy beer portfolio, and this double dry hopped iteration was perhaps even better than the original. Like many of their intensely hopped IPAs, this definitely improved with a few weeks of age.

L - 1-finger fizzy white head is gone in a flash, leaving minimal lacing. Body is a milky yellow which has me thinking Galaxy hops. Also the top of the can is shiny black. Only black top I can remember was a Bissell ipa a few years back.
S - grapefruit, pineapple, herb, pine. Not a hugely strong nose, but it smells great.
T - lots of tropical fruit. Pineapple, mango, mild dankness, with a earthy middle. Finishes dry with a noticeable alcohol bite. Moderate bitterness. Low sweetness.
F - medium-full body with lower carb.
O - this has to have Galaxy in it. Although I am terrible at hop identification. Guessing higher end ddh dipa (9% ish). No idea on the brewery besides the black can clue.

Insanely delicious DIPA that hits the sweet spot for me - tropical and juicy but enough hope bite and resinous finish to keep things interesting. Lots of tropical fruits and citrus on the nose (mango, pineapple, orange or lime zest). Flavor bomb of mango, some lychee, dankness on the middle of the palate with pleasant finishing pine and hop oils. The mid-sip is a lot more complex than I can really articulate. It’s like there’s a few flavors going on at once and really hits you differently depending on the sip. I haven’t had the non-DDH upper case, so can’t really compare it, but this was a great one and one of my favorite beers I’ve had in the past few weeks at least. Awesome beer.
