Served in a tulip
Impressive appearance. The beer poured a cloudy blood red hue and was topped by a tight, creamy, two-finger tall, light pink crown that quickly dropped to a small collar. A pockmarked wall of lacing coated the black half of the glass and some streaks and dots trickled down the front.
Raspberry notes came through big time in the nose. Really jammy and sweet. Bit of seed-like tartness as well. Perhaps some strawberry, pomegranate and cranberry too. I doubt I would have picked out the cranberry or the pomegranate without prior knowledge of them however. Quite simplistic overall but so enjoyable.
Raspberry notes dominated in the flavor profile as well. Really jammy, sweet and bright, freshly picked raspberries came to mind. As the beer moved along the palate, some tart cranberry notes appeared. More lingering sweet-tart raspberry on the back end and the finish.
Solid mouthfeel. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, fairly zippy effervescence that fluffed up nicely on the palate.
Daily Serving - Raspberry, Pomegranate & Cranberry is another fantastic variant in Trillium’s Daily Serving series. Although both the pomegranate and the cranberry were barely (if at all) noticeable, they were hardly missed.
