With DDH Comm Ave, we build a plush Double IPA base for Citra to shine upon. Pouring a hazy canary yellow, a bounty of fruit-forward aromas jump from the glass. Dank citrus greets the palate first, with big notes of orange juice and grapefruit sorbet making way for a wave of tropicality. Fresh pineapple, mango nectar, and papaya round out each sip. Medium-to-full bodied with a soft approach, DDH Comm Ave finishes with a refreshing moderate bitterness.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
03/18/21
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a completely opaque, pale straw yellow hue and was topped by a thin cap of larger sized bubbles that dissolved almost instantaneously. No lacing and zero head retention whatsoever. The resulting body was very milky looking and appeared completely still.

The aroma was spectacular initially. A cornucopia of fruity hop notes smacked me in the face. Tropical fruits dominated. Papaya and guava came through big time. Loads of passionfruit too. Juicy orange notes were also apparent. Bit of weed-like dankness as well. As the beer sat, the orange presence intensified and eventually took over.

The flavor profile was nearly as impressive as the nose. Super fruity and complex. Mango and papaya came through strong up front. Juicy orange notes appeared in the center. White grapefruit was noticeable on the back end. Grapefruit rind-like notes carried into the finish. Moderate amount of pithy, lingering bitterness. Both the grapefruit presence and the bitterness became more pronounced with time.

The mouthfeel was surprisingly light and fluffy. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a larger bubbled, fairly spritzy effervescence that gave the beer a crisp snappiness.

Double Dry Hopped Comm Ave is a terrific DDH DIPA with big tropical fruit notes and a lighter, fluffier body that made the beer highly quaffable. My advice would be to drink this relatively fast because it definitely loses some momentum as it sits.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium Brewery in Canton for about twenty two dollars. My twenty seventh brew from these guys. This is very good, a bit pricey.

Poured from a can dated 3/18/21 into a tulip glass. Pale yellow with lots of effervescence on the pour with quickly dissipating head. Virtually no lacing. Smells of fresh squeezed orange juice and tropical fruit smoothie. Citrus zest flavors, dank hops, getting a tiny bit of mango and pineapple. Nice mouthfeel - fluffy and smooth. Refreshing and lingering bitter finish. Really nice showcase of Citra in the standard Trillium style.

16 oz can dated 03/18/21

Pours cloudy opaque pale yellow orange with a quickly dissipating white foam head. Smells extremely hoppy, loaded with Citra, massive gigantic peach notes, mango, pineapple, lemon, orange citrus, grapefruit, papaya, some dank resinous floral earthy pine, with mild caramelized malt. Tastes super hoppy, smooth and lush, cantaloupe, orange citrus, grapefruit sorbet, pineapple, peach, mango nectar, papaya, hint of lemon peel, dank resinous earthy herbal pine, with a hint of lightly toasty caramelized bready malt. Really fruit forward, not too dank, nice expression of the hop. Feels medium-full bodied, creamy smooth with moderate low carbonation, finishing fairly dry. Overall a really great Citra double dry hopped DIPA.
