Built in 1928 as a venue for the Boston Pops Orchestra's outdoor concerts, the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Charles River Esplanade is one of the city's finest examples of Art Deco architecture. The iconic landmark has brought the people of Boston together for decades, offering a welcoming green space for arts and culture.
Our tribute to the legendary structure offers a hop combination that is a touch more complicated than a typical Trillium IPA. Dry-hopped with Mosaic, Strata, Motueka, and Simcoe, Hatch Shell is a golden deep yellow with a heavy, glowing haze. Notes of pineapple juice, fresh-picked blueberry, Meyer lemon, and pithy grapefruit combine for a complex and enticing bouquet of aromatics. Dry, with a soft bitter finish and medium body, Hatch Shell joins our family of beers that pay homage to our home city.

Pretty, opaque pastel yellow body; thick head, white and sudsy; sticky fingers of foam inside the glass. Very mild citrus and tropical fruit notes with a backdrop of oats; pineapple and a light touch of tangerine and kiwi. Relatively mild taste for a New England India pale ale; obtuse tropical and citrus fruits; white grapefruit; bold and acidic bitterness. Heavy body; sharp and acidic.
While less harsh and brash than some other recent Trillium India pale ales I've had, this boils down to being just a slightly less noisy version of the same ol' same ol' product. Great looks, fair scent, sharp and bitter flavor and a biting mouthfeel. While not my type of beer overall, I would judge it good for what it is.
ABV: 7.1%; pouring temperature: 47.7 ℉; canning info: 06/12/25

Copenhagen 10/11 2023. 47,3 cl can from Best of Beers web-shop. Off-white can with a drawing of weird shell-like building in a barren landscape.
Pours opaque hazy golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, fruity and slightly fermented odor mingling with a slightly more subdued scent of citrus fruit. Mango and passion fruit. Whiff of alcohol and fermentation. Grapefruit and lemon.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a rather strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. A bit boozy. Lingers for a while. Finish is quite dry.
Solid if somewhat boozy NEIPA.

06/15/23. Poured into 25th Anni BA teku - hell yeah!!
A: Murky-hazy lemonade yellow with 2-finger white frothy head with good retention and scrappy lacing.
S: Nondescript fruitiness with some
Pine and herbal lemongrass notes
T: Flavor also nondescript, muddled NEIPA fruit with a lot of pithy grapefruit and lemon along with some pine and herbal notes. Esters are bubble gum. Bitterness is low and no alcohol notes.
M: Very gritty chalky feel with medium body and moderate carbonation.
O: A big disappointment.

Am I allowed to say I didn’t like this. Had during a 90 degree day at 5 Horses. Hazy…interesting smell. But the taste is flat and bitter. I could blame it on the weather, as the concrete is melting, but this one isn’t doing it for me. I guess this means the end of Trillium. Such a good run.
