16oz can dated 12/8/22.

Pours cloudy yellow with an inch of white fluff. Dank, pithy citrus in the nose. Grapefruit pulp, unripe peach, white grape. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Candied peach, mango, orange, and grape on the palate. Finishes juicy and dank with minimal malt or bitterness.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
Canned on 12/16/21
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a pale straw yellow hue and nearly opaque. A small, bubbly film capped the liquid, but it dissolved almost instantly. There was zero lacing as well.

The nose was outstanding. An intensely skunky, weed-like dankness came through big time. The dankness was nicely matched by sweet fruity notes that intensified as the beer sat. Overripe mango was most prominent. Bit of peach and nectarine too. Hint of alcohol as well.

The flavor profile was solid though quite different from the aroma and not as smooth. Citrus notes dominated initially. Big grapefruit presence. Tangy and sweet but also slightly pithy and bitter. Tangerine was noticeable as well. Some lemony tartness and pineapple notes were apparent in the center. More grapefruit and pithy grapefruit peel on the back end and the finish. With time, the grapefruit presence mellowed and the sweetness came forth. Peach, nectarine and mango notes were all detectable.

Nice fluffy, lighter bodied mouthfeel. The liquid contained a larger bubbled, fairly aggressive effervescence that felt rather prickly. As the beer sat, the carbonation settled down and the liquid turned slick and smooth on the palate.

Liquid Mettle is a fantastic double IPA with an amazingly dank and fruity nose and a flavor profile that became noticeably smoother and fruitier with time. Nearly all the beers in Trillium’s Mettle series have been awesome, and this is perhaps their best one to date.

Yeah, this one does it. It’s definitely not Ronaldo taking a PK status, but what about Fred? That guy was ok, right? Again, there really is nothing special about this beer; it’s a cool breeze on just another summer day. Yeah, I’ll take that.

Be kind, my children.

OJ color with two fingers of airy, yellowed head with poor retention and spotty lacing.

Strong citrus pith and white wine in the nose.

Hop burn and alcohol are added to the same elements from the aroma.

Creamy mouthfeel with a little zip from the carbonation.

A fine NEIPA.
