I had to read after drinking that this is a collaboration with a West Coast brewery. Very flavorful and more balanced between NEIPA and West Coast than most beers of that variety. I liked it for its smooth happiness.

Stepping away from their hazy ways, Trillium brewers team up with those from Green Cheek Beer to create a drier, spicier, less cloudy approach to hoppy beer making. Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe and Mosaic hops fuel a more bitter session than what's expected. Where this beer is real, we cannot attest to the same news about birds. But...
Real Birds are Real gets itself going with a basic hazy gold while capping off with a loose and frothy crown. Bold and nearly tangy scents of grape, citrus, tropical and berries, the nose also invites nuanced pine, pepper and hemp-like perfume. Supple and sweet on the tongue, the beer shares a light wafer sweetness with mild honey and pastry crust.
As the hops soon outplay the malts for command of the middle palate, the taste shifts back to the fruitier tone of hops with white grapefruit, fresh orange peel, mango, apricot and passionfruit with a spicier tone. A later rise of blackcurrant, fresh spruce, green tea and white wine all come to mind as the bitterness of pine, fresh and dank herb, and peppery green tea dry the taste heading into finish.
Medium bodied and not quite as dry or bitter as most of the more famed West Coast IPA, this collaboritive effort is a delicious beer with utmost refreshment and palatability. A quick finish leads to a long aftertaste of peppery herbs and a spicy, sprucy resins to linger onward.

Deep copper in color with an ever so slight head. Nose is piney. Taste is piney as well, but initially it reminds me of a hazy IPA with the taste, however then the bitterness prevails and pulls the beer flavors together. Overall good stuff!

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Trillium in Canton for about seventeen dollars. Very good.

Said it before and I’ll say it again - Trillium’s west coast IPA collabs are on point. They bring more structure and balance to the table than when Trillium brews one on their own.
Crisp, dry, pakalolo, pine, grapefruit rind, orange peel and real life bitterness. Drinkable with an ABV that you can hold. Good as it gets in New England.
