Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Trillium Brewing Company, Boston, MA
12/20/21
Served in a tulip
The beer poured a cloudy, deep orangey-pink color that reminded my of guava flesh. A creamy, half-inch tall, light pink crown topped the liquid, but it quickly dropped to a thin dollop of froth. Some tiny dots of lacing trickled along the glass.
The aroma was fantastic. This smelled like a cornucopia of bright tropical fruit notes. Passionfruit was definitely most prominent. Lots of ripe raspberry as well. Tart lime notes were also apparent. Touch of juicy pineapple too.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose but far more tart and tangy. Lime notes came through big time. Lots of passionfruit as well. Underripe raspberry notes were also apparent. Bit of pineapple too. The lime notes and the acidity intensified on the back end and the finish. Hint of lingering bitter lime zest after the swallow.
Nice smooth, creamy, slick mouthfeel. Fuller bodied for the style. The liquid contained a subtle, finer beaded effervescence that worked nicely for the style.
This is supposedly a different beer from Trillium’s Twice the Daily Serving: Tropical Punch, but they tasted nearly identical to me. Both are terrific fruited kettle sours - super tasty, refreshing and surprisingly not too sweet, with the perfect amount of tanginess. I would gladly crush this again during the warmer months ahead.
