Hard to explain. Almost a tart Amber saison. Dry finish. Great mouthfeel. Spritzy palate. Murky muddled Flanders-esque. Quick tartness at the front end. The super dry finish helps clean up the malt on the mid palate.

Reddish brown in color. Fairly clear in appearance. Fruity and bretty but very well balanced. Semi dry oaky finish. Very little tartness. This is superb.

Shared with Threelions and rudzud.
Nice creamy head covering, fades at a med pace, hazy caramel colored.
Nose starts right off with barrel, oaky barrel, big malt, sour darker caramel like malt, nice tart wild funk and bacteria, lacto possibly, Brett, little acidic tartness, raisin notes, mild fruity. Also sweet caramel.
Taste malty and barrel, nice toasted barrel with hint vinous notes, little sour berry like, tartness, hint raisiny like again, into caramel and mild sweet malts. Decent lacto, little Brett funk. Hint of acidic bite. Finish is little sticky, mild tartness, little barrel note.
Mouth is lighter bod, lighter carb, mild creamy.
Overall a bit of a let down. Ok beer but not a big Flanders or wild, more like oud bruin that's OK but not great.

A: Pours a very hazy brownish/copper with little to no head. Great legs that fade away rather quickly. Nothing really wowing me here. I'd hate to see what this looked like before some aging in the barrel.
S: Very assertive oud bruin aromas. Barrel notes right out in front. Very malty, slight heat from the alcohol. From a 'Red' I was assuming a Flanders Style Red but this is not at all what I was expecting.
T: Caramel, woody, earthy, vinous and raisiny. Very interesting. Not sure that I completely get what's going on here. Not bad by any stretch but not at all what I was expecting from a wild.
M: Very thin.
O: Not at all what I was expecting. Sometimes that can be a good thing but this time around I'm not very impressed. Appearance didn't wow me, smell was very unexpected, taste was interesting, complex but not great and was was pretty weak.

The beer pours some decent white with a hint of red bubbly head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is an opaque ruby with slight hints of reddish purple. The color reminds more of grape red wine than anything else. The smell is funky. The funk is a fairly tart smell with a bit of sour in it. The funk from this brew is definitely stronger than Trillium's previous wild offerings but mild enough for the average American craft beer drinker. Underneath the funk is a slight dark cherry smell and sweet fruit smell. The taste is very close to the smell. The funk is strong with this one. Huge tart notes that dominates the tongue with a slight flowery note. Overall, a very good wild ale and on that I hope will show up again soon.
