A refreshingly hoppy American pale ale, Little Rooster is another edition in our "Small Bird Series" of lower ABV offerings brewed for the summer. The nose is an intense, complex fusion of kiwi, citrus, and fresh hop. Candied peach, grape jam, and orange fill out the flavor profile, with a firm bitterness. Dry and effervescent, light to medium bodied.

06/27/23. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Moderately hazy, lemonade, yellow, with 1–2 finger, white foamy head with decent retention and sparse lacing.
S: Aroma is solid with berry, pineapple, and white grapefruit with no real malt contribution. Esters are light and fruity.
T: Flavor is excellent with tones of berry, white, grapefruit, orange, tangerine, and pineapple. Also some lemon-lime and pith. Esters remain light fruity and bubble gum. Bitterness is low-medium.
M: Light body with moderate carbonation and dry finish.
O: A very enjoyable NE APA with good
Intensity of flavor.

poured from a can dated 6/6/22
light apricot opaque color, thin to no head to speak of, no lacing, very faint veil.
bright mango aroma, hints of lemon rind, orange and jolly rancher candy
taste is tropical fruit and sour lemon rind, faint hard candy sweetness on the back of the tongue. Earthy tasting but not wet grassy, mango nose is barely evident in the taste
mouthfeel is pretty astringent, dry lingering bite throughout overwhelms the slight candy and lemon notes. I found it fairly brightly carbonated, had a pilsner effervescent type of feel.
overall it's not a bad ABA, one of the better Little Bird series beers. fairly medium abv at 5.8%, not really any alcohol burn or taste but for some reason it sneaks up on you.

At the Greenway Beer Garden. Another delicious APA, with the massive tropical fruit you expect. Strange nose, but that could be the plastic cup it’s served in? Super drinkable and feels/tastes like an IPA without the high ABV%. Well done.

Probably my favorite in the small bird series. Very soft mouthfeel works well with a hop profile that is fairly subdued by Trillium standards.

Traded for this a while ago, as the date on the bottom of the can 5/11/17. For being as old as it was, this held up well as the liquid was free of sediment and still appeared relatively fresh. While not on par with my favorite offerings from Trillium, this was a solid American Pale Ale that was balanced, easy to drink, and nearly a session beer as the alcohol couldn't be felt at all!
Not a bad pour to this as the beer had a dark apricot hue with just a bit of light seeping in around the edge. Plenty of frothy head topped this off as there were a few rocky rings of lacing below the thin collar. Tons of Galaxy, stone fruit, and white wine in the nose as the aroma itself wasn't terribly strong. More candied sugar, peach, tangerine, and citrus rind came through in the nose as this was quite a heavy-tasting beer for this style.
A bit sticky and full of oats and bread in the aftertaste, this might have been the lightest of any Trillium beer I've ever had, in terms of the heft. Like the idea of the "Small Bird Series" and would be eager to give the others a go - especially seeing how well this held up. A nice take on the style that was as unoffensive as could be!

Canned on Jul/31.
Drank on Oct/12.
Poured to an Ora et Labora taster.
A: Body is super opaque in a color in between yellow and orange. Head is minimal, 2mm thick and after a while it only lives to the sides of the glass. But color wise, this is very good.
S: Aroma is interesting with some citric notes of orange and lemon zest moving on to a grassy and hoppy touch in the back. Despite the color, it does smell like an APA.
T: Taste starts off with vanilla moving into more citric tones of orange mixed with tangerine, getting heavier into grapefruit and then suddenly ending in a strong profile of burnt hops (it's an old can for today's standards). But I can see where it went when it was fresh.
M: Body is medium. Carbonation is too heavy. Alcohol is unnoticed. Bitterness is high.
O: Always wanted to try some of this Small Bird Series, the labels look really cool as usual in Trillium's cans. For the APA itself, this one I find to be very close to a more conservative yet new-wave IPA. Good stuff.
