When Jonathan Staples launched Black Hops Farm in 2014 the goal was to provide local hops to Virginia’s thriving alcohol industry. This would not only support the beverage industry but also local agriculture by promoting further hop farming. With an emphasis on hops it was a no brainer that a brewery belonged on the farm. Thus, Vanish Farmwoods Brewery was born!
Vanish resides on the 53 acre Black Hops Farm in beautiful Lucketts, Va. With the use of local ingredients we focus on bringing you beer that is plant to pint and seed to sip. We offer up to 20 beers on tap at a time in our massive Taproom. We boast plenty of outdoor space with scenic views as well as options for private events both big and small. Come see us and don’t miss out on our Mega Flight of 12 tasters!
Vanish is also a place for experimentation. Our thoughtful engagement with nature – the land, the plants – enables us to create uncommon beers that show people just how interesting beer can be.

Pretty disappointing visit. Beer is good and the venue is pretty nice. Every server/employee we interacted with was disinterested at best and more often mild to blatantly rude. The food was very disappointing. If you like elementary school cafeteria pizza and grease bomb beer battered fries this is the place for you. Be careful with the flight holders too. They have a high center of gravity and are easy to tip over as our friend found out. With good beer, all of that is forgivable except for the consistent arrogance and disappointing interactions with the staff. Too many other great places to visit to give this one another shot

First time and I was amazed at how large the facility is. Outside games, playsets, uber dog-friendly, several different areas inside/out, music, etc. A little bit of everything. Visited in February and it was busy but during the summer it's got to be packed with families.

A very large and often busy location. Ample seating and above average beers.

Whenever I come through NoVa, I try and visit a new brewery each time, and there clearly is no lack of choices. This time it was Vanish Brewery, recommended by my Brother-in-Law, who filmed a music video there, citing the rustic feel and good vibe (4.75) of the venue.
Over the course of two hours, I went with two different flights (six samplers each) listening to live music and delicious barbecue, accompanied by good company, including family and friends. The beers themselves were delicious, with a wide array of choices, including six different takes on my favorite, IPAs.
Returning to Hong Kong next week, I was able to take two bottles-to-go, both limited and numbered out of 100, sure to arouse the sleeping eyes of East Asia, which I look forward to awaking from their slumber.
Vanish Brewing comes highly recommended if you are passing through Northern Virginia, a welcoming place with fantastic beers and delicious food (Friday - Sunday), all situated in the scenic ambiance of Leesburg...

Revisit 2/2017:
A couple more beers and a few more styles represented has an increase in selection score. The couple beers we tried seemed of decent quality as well, a notch up there.
Wonderful place to enjoy a decent beer. Offerings today we're all light in color, heavy on IPAs and Weiss beers. Attempts are fruit infusions were spotty in success.
Enjoyed our time, and if they threw a little more variety in their appx dozen taps it might help. A little more consistent quality across beers and slightly better overall on avg and they'd be a notch up, I think.

Huge Metal building, tons of room. Mix of old and new, seemed odd but kinda grew on me. Big selection of beers styles, only had a chance to try two.

I was kind of shocked at the size of this place, as I thought it was much more low-key. But it's actually in a big warehouse on a pretty big stretch of land. The bar is big, the space is big, lots of seating indoors and out. Kid friendly, and presumably pet friendly. There is a kitchen area or a food truck area, so check their site for food availability. The service was fine. There was a good selection of beer, so I opted for a few samplers.
I was on the road and a bit pressed for time, so at some point I would definitely like to revisit and try out some more of their brews. These guys seem worth keeping an eye on.

Sister-in-law surprised me with a trip to Vanish for a few beers. Spoke with one of the brewmasters, Carlos. He was very friendly and provided a good amount of history and information on the beers. Highly recommend Oatmeal Pale Ale, Double IPA, Nitrous Porter, Dubbel, and one of the most interesting, Sahti. Reminded me of the feel when my brother and I went to Hill Farmstead last June. My girls, 11 and 8, enjoyed themselves playing foosball, on Mommy's iPhone, and the giant Legos. Bought one of their shirts, cool logo and picked up a few complementary coasters that glow in the dark.
