Sampled on draught at the Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA; served in a snifter. Deep lightproof blackish brown in color, with a dark tan head. Aromas and flavors of roasted malt and dark chocolate, with an earthy and vegetal chile note. Served cold, which may have muted the chile heat somewhat. A little lighter in body than I was expecting for such a big beer, making it quite easy-drinking. The finish is mostly dry, with a bit of astringence and a touch of chile heat lingering on the palate. Overall, an outstanding beer. I recommend allowing it to warm up to slightly below room temperature - if you can wait that long, that is.

Aroma is chocolate/dark chocolate, dark malts and mild chilies/metallic hint. The flavor is chocolate/cocoa, dark malts, dark fruit and an acidic/mild/medium hot chili finish.

This imperial stout was aged on guajillo, ancho and Chile de Arbil chilies for earthy and seductive spice as well as cinnamon and cacao nibs creating a complex dark chocolate experience.
