12oz can, at Pizzabrew in Calgary. The label sez 'Evans Brewing Company, Monroe, WI', so it looks like this 'established in California' brand has gone over to the dark side.
This beer pours a clear, medium golden amber colour, with one skinny finger of wispy, and barely foamy dirty white head, which leaves a few specks of random islet lace around the glass as it quickly abates.
It smells once again of rancid, forgotten on the counter butter - WTF? Has Minhas discovered a new gag-worthy house character? There's also a bit of bland corn and rice 'malt' sweetness, but it's hardly noteworthy. The taste is bready, buttery (natch) pale corn and rice pudding banality, grouchy (I would be too) yeast, a touch of warm plastic, and a further dry weediness.
The bubbles are tame, and mostly just wanly frothy, the body on the far side of medium weight, and still pretty pithy in its ill-advised attempt at smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the bready and buttery essences displaying some unwelcome persistence.
Not to sound too much like a broken record here, but all this shit just seems the same - there really must be something nasty in the pipes, floors, and walls of that contract brewing monstrosity in rural Wisconsin.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
