Pours a golden with slight orange hue. Thin white head. Slight sweet malt smell. Tastes like an average lager. Better than big domestics. The taste has the same sweet malty taste. I must say this is a winner for $2.99 a 12 pack at Minhas Brewery. The black is even better.

355ml can, like its older brother, this is 'Established in California', but now made in rural Wisconsin.

This beer pours a clear, medium golden amber hue, with one fat finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy off-white head, which leaves little beyond a bit of pinprick lace around the glass as it quickly subsides.

It smells of musty corn mash, gritty rice pudding, dead phenolic yeast, wet banana chips, and earthy, Springtime leaf cleanup hops. The taste is musty, dusty pale malt, corn grist, husky rice, nail polish remover, doughy yeast, melted plastic, and an indistinct drying character.

The carbonation is pretty low-key, barely a note of fizz really manifests as such after the outset, the body a decent medium-light weight for the style, and quite cloying in its pithy attempt at smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the varied cheap-ass grains coalescing into a sugary morass, amongst a lingering buttery acetone astringency.

For a light lager, this one sure has some weight to it - too bad the flavour doesn't match up at the same rate. Not awful, but there are some serious cracks that would preclude ingesting any more than one of these for research purposes.
