330ml bottle, a house brew for The Great Indian Factory (TGIF - get it?), the restaurant outfit that has taken over the original New Asian Village location on Saskatchewan Drive in Edmonton, they of the heretofore commendable beer fridge options.
This beer pours a somewhat hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves very little in the way of lace anywhere near the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of overly sweet, cheap apple and pear fruity notes, musty and dusty shipping boxes, phenolic yeast, barely palpable corn-fed grainy notes, and more weak earthy, leafy, and generally unpleasant bitterness. The taste is gritty and sort of grainy pale and corny 'malt', still heady back of the warehouse dusty cardboard, um, 'features', more yeast that really should know better, and nothing else of renown, but you already knew that, didn't you?
The carbonation is fairly understated in its wan and barely give a shit-worthy frothiness, the body a plain medium weight, and actually more or less smooth, but you might ask - at what cost? It finishes off-dry, I suppose, but really full of estery off-brand grainy notes, and more of that lingering dusty box thing. WTF?
Overall, Minhas brings their typical inanity with their weird, keep it in the south Asian family (I don't really know how else to frame it) sensibilities. Bland, poorly made, and really not worth the $7.50 charged by the really bored and suspicious-looking dude at said establishment where I came upon this, um 'gem'.
