Received a can from a friend 12-30-23. Best by date is illegible 2023; consumed 8-20-23.

Beer poured dark brown with a nice tan head with the initial pour.

Nose has mild roast and not much else.

Taste is a touch of mildly roasted malts that are mildly hopped and, in the end, finishes sweet.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall this one struggles to meet the style guidelines but will give it an average rating.

Dark reddish brown with a modest and short lived tan head.
The aroma is mild but hard to describe, some odd funky malt maybe.
The taste is better but still oddly funky, sweet, some really vague hint of coffee, not much else.
The body is light, now this is just not right for an oatmeal stout, carbonation is moderate. Altogether, this just does not resemble a good oatmeal stout, it's drinkable but not really inspiring.

12oz can

On the pour two fingers of fizzy tan head form and quickly becomes more fizzy and dissipates. Body is a dark murky brown that at first glance might come off as black, but clearly isn't.

The aroma is boldly bad. The Minhas funk is strong in this one and the only sign of stout is a strong sweetness that carries a light coffee note. Otherwise this smells like warm malt liquor, as well as a bad savory note. I wonder if all this beer went through yeast autolysis? Sour but not in a lacto way.

Taste is better than the aroma, but the bar is set real low. The funk and sourness come through at first and remind me a bit of a stoud that was left on the counter open for 24 hours. The finish is not quite malty, but rather roasty? I wonder how much of this is artificial.

Feel is completely wrong for the style. Oddly thin and surprisingly dry feeling. For these beers however I don't know if I'd actually want a bigger body...

Overall this one was bad. The flaws shine through, and it seems like this was still mostly brewed with malt extract. Perhaps even dark malt extract. This simply isn't an oatmeal stout.

12 oz can from Sam's Club.

Appearance. Very dark brown body with a decent beige head.

Off notes in the smell with a better, but still slightly 'tainted' flavor.

Borderline acceptable. The look and smell is on par but the taste is off. The bitterness is weird, like it does not fit. And there is some other background flavor that is out of place, maybe it is supposed to be coffee, not sure. Im probably being generous with this rating.
